Position Summary:
The Self-Funded Specialist (SFS) position is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with our clients, internal GBS brokers and Consultants. The Self-Funded Specialist works collaboratively with our internal teams on all aspects of self-funding including but not limited to the execution and management of implementations, compliance regulations, stop loss, vendor management and plan design consultation. Must be an effective communicator, strategic thinker, consultative, can present and lead, foster healthy relationships and be open to other perspectives.
Primary Job Responsibilities
· Being involved in all aspects of the self-funded bid process and renewals as needed.
· Implement new and existing self-funded clients with carriers/TPA’s and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM’s).
· Review Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, SBC’s and Stop Loss contracts.
· Assist brokers with renewals, and prospects as needed.
· Coordinate with GBS staff to complete special projects.
· Review self-funded contracts, i.e., Administrative Service Agreements, NDA’s, Business Associate Agreements
· Update and manage project management tool.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
· Self-funded healthcare experience is required
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
· Strong and effective communicator via letters, emails, telephone calls, and in person conversations
· Positive attitude with a willingness and ability to work as part of a team
· A hard-working, detail oriented, multi-tasking, proactive, and organized individual, who excels at prioritizing tasks
Required Education:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred

Working Conditions / Essential Functions:
This position enjoys the benefits and climate control of a quiet office environment. Employees are provided with ergonomically sound workspaces. Work is accomplished at a computer terminal either sitting or standing. Employees must access, input, and retrieve information from the computer system. Comfort and efficiency are considered in employee workspaces. Daily work includes computer interfacing, data entry, communications (electronic and physical), movement throughout the office, attending meetings, etc.
Physical demands include the ability to lift and move objects (typically 0 – 10 lbs.) and visually monitor information/data on a computer screen.
