We are looking for a Junior Underwriting Analyst. This position plays a key role in evaluating loan applications, verifying documentation, and ensuring that credit decisions
are made in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards. This
position supports the underwriting team in making consistent, data-driven
decisions while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and
customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
-Review and assess loan applications to determine applicant
eligibility, accuracy, and completeness.
-Verify applicant information including income, employment,
identification, and credit data against internal and external
documentation sources.
-Analyze supporting documents such as, bank statements and credit
reports to validate applicant data.
-Apply credit risk policies and underwriting guidelines to make
preliminary recommendations for approval, decline, or escalation.
-Prepare underwriting summaries and documentation to support credit decisions and maintain audit readiness.
-Monitor application queues to ensure timely processing and SLA
compliance.
-Collaborate with senior underwriters and risk analysts to clarify
ambiguous cases or exceptions.
-Communicate effectively with internal teams (customer support,
operations, collections) to resolve discrepancies or obtain missing
information.
-Ensure compliance with all relevant credit and consumer protection
regulations, including disclosures, adverse action notices, and data
privacy requirements.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business
Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 1–2 years of experience in underwriting, loan processing, or credit
analysis preferred (internship experience acceptable for entry-level).
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
3. Familiarity with credit scoring, lending criteria, and consumer lending
regulations.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Proficiency with spreadsheets, loan origination systems, and CRM
tools.
Preferred Skills
-Experience in fintech, consumer lending, or microfinance
environments.
-Knowledge of automated underwriting systems or decision engines.
-Understanding of credit bureau data and risk modeling concepts.
-Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
