Full Job Description
You'll lead Lemonade's Fraud squad within our Platform group. This is where AI meets security—protecting millions of customers while keeping the experience instant and delightful. You'll manage a team of 4 engineers and a QA while collaborating closely with a dedicated product manager, guiding the squad through bi-weekly sprints and quarterly planning, all while fostering the ownership and accountability that drives our mission forward
In this role you'll:
Lead a cross-functional fraud detection squad — managing 4 engineers, QA, and product manager to deliver on critical security OKRs
Drive technical strategy for fraud prevention — balancing AI-powered detection with seamless customer experience across our platform
Own sprint execution and quarterly planning — running bi-weekly cycles that keep us moving fast while maintaining quality and security standards
Collaborate across Platform teams — working closely with Product and other engineering squads to ensure fraud solutions integrate smoothly
Mentor and grow your team — supporting both professional development and personal growth in a fast-paced, AI-first environment
Foster ownership culture — encouraging accountability, continuous improvement, and the builder mindset that defines how we work
Scale fraud systems for millions — ensuring our detection capabilities grow with our customer base across US and Europe markets
What you'll need:
2+ years as engineering manager or team lead — with proven experience guiding technical teams through complex product delivery
5+ years as backend or full-stack developer — strong technical foundation to guide architectural decisions and mentor engineers
Enthusiasm for AI and continuous learning — commitment to exploring how AI transforms fraud detection and security is fundamental to our culture
Strong leadership and communication skills — able to align cross-functional teams, drive consensus, and translate technical complexity into clear outcomes
BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field — solid technical foundation for complex problem-solving
High-scale production system experience — understanding what it takes to build fraud detection that works at millions-of-customers scale
Node, Nest.js, TypeScript experience preferred — familiarity with our core tech stack is a bonus
