Full Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Markets new and renewal business.

  • Completes underwriting information and applications.

  • Presents submissions to companies.

  • Compiles company quotes and performs initial price and coverage negotiation with carriers.

  • Presents quotes to client in an organized format.

  • Develops new customers through various prospecting activities such as networking, phone solicitation, direct mailings, cold-calls, etc.

  • Participates in servicing of accounts, which includes, but is not limited to:

    • Speaking with customers and company personnel via phone or in person and responding to written correspondence.

    • Answering coverage questions, recommending coverages, taking policy change information, taking claim information, collecting premiums, submitting proper documents to the insurance company, and verifying that documents received from the company are correct.

    • Issues proper insurance verification documents to the insured (auto id, certifications, etc.)

    • Resolves customer problems & complaints.

    • Follows up on policies that cancel.

    • Assists with the collection of premiums and reconciliation of accounts as needed.

  • Knows the various company products, underwriting requirements, binding authority, policy forms, rating software programs, and competitiveness in the marketplace.

  • Develops existing accounts by attempting to provide additional coverages on a policy and / or adding addition lines of business.

  • Meets with Company marketing representatives to learn of new products or changes.

  • Participates in community & professional activities as an agency representative.

  • Learns agency carriers and marketplace to determine the best product for the customer.

  • May represent agency at various trade association meetings that are related to agency business.

  • Analyzes, develops and recommends coverage for specific exposures.

  • Collects agency billing premiums.

  • Provides Agency Manager with a monthly list of new business accounts.

  • Works with Agency Manger to create annual goals for Producer.

  • Diligently works to improve insurance coverage knowledge beyond state CE requirements.

  • Attends monthly agency sales meetings.

  • Develops a book of business.
