Position Summary
The Benefits Account Manager supports Producers and Benefit Consultants in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of employee benefit programs. This is a client-facing role responsible for carrier marketing, renewals, open enrollment coordination, compliance support, and day-to-day client service.
Key Responsibilities
Market employee benefit plans to insurance carriers and analyze proposal results
Coordinate carrier renewals, including obtaining pricing and plan options
Manage carrier implementations and transitions, including:
Communicating plan decisions to carriers
Completing and submitting required paperwork
Ensuring enrollment import files are completed when changing carriers
Obtaining signed termination letters and submitting them to prior carriers
Obtaining and reviewing certificates for accuracy
Prepare open enrollment materials such as benefit guides, presentations, scripts, memos, SBCs, and required compliance notices
Communicate benefit decisions to internal teams, including COBRA, benefits systems, FSA/HRA administrators, call center teams, and 5500 coordination
Respond to day-to-day client inquiries and provide ongoing support
Assist with compliance requirements, including PCORI, Gag Clause, Medicare Part D notices, CMS Medicare Status filings, CAA reporting, plan document updates, and LOAs when applicable
Prepare reports for quarterly and renewal meetings
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in Vertafore BenefitPoint
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience in employee benefits or insurance preferred
