Job Summary:  As a Tax Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and supervising all aspects of our clients' tax compliance and planning needs. This position requires a seasoned professional with a background in tax regulations, exceptional supervisory skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred

  • CPA required

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in tax accounting, with a focus on compliance, research and complex problem solving.

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Well organized with good time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Works well in a team environment and ability to maintain positive relationships with work teams and customers/clients

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Experience using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work and think independently

  • Must be able to develop working knowledge of in-house software packages.

  • Pass a CJIS background check

Essential Functions: 

Tax Compliance:  Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.  Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities. Review and analyze complex tax issues, providing guidance to clients and internal teams.

Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize clients' financial positions.  Provide proactive advice on tax implications related to business transactions, investments, and other financial decisions.

Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact for tax-related matters. Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals and objectives, offering strategic tax advice accordingly.

Tax Preparation:  Prepare and review complex tax returns for a variety of clients, including businesses and high-net-worth individuals.  Analyze financial records, reports and statements to identify tax-related issues and opportunities.

Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering professional development. Coordinate and delegate tasks to ensure efficient workflow and successful project completion.  Collaborate with partners and staff to deliver cohesive and comprehensive tax solutions. Present final tax strategies and decisions to partners for approval.

Quality Control: Conduct regular reviews of tax workpapers, calculations, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards. Implement and maintain quality control measures to uphold the firm's commitment to excellence.
