Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior Tax Accountant Specialist to join our tax team. This role will be primarily responsible for income tax compliance (approximately 80%), including federal, state, and international filings, with additional exposure to indirect tax (approximately 20%).

This position also offers an opportunity to support the implementation of AI-driven tools within the tax function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax processes.

This is a hybrid role, expected to be onsite 3 days a week in our San Jose HQ.

Key Responsibilities

Income Tax Compliance (80%)

  • Prepare U.S. federal and state income tax returns, including supporting workpapers and schedules

  • Support the review of income tax returns and filings

  • Assist with international tax compliance, including coordination with external advisors on foreign filings (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, etc.)

  • Support quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740), including deferred tax calculations

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all income tax obligations

  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and reviews

  • Maintain tax documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls (e.g., SOX requirements)

Indirect Tax (20%)

  • Support sales and use tax, VAT, and GST compliance and reporting

  • Assist with indirect tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities

  • Monitor nexus and registration requirements across jurisdictions

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, operations, IT) to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions

  • Willingness to learn and expand into indirect tax areas is important

AI & Process Transformation

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of AI tools within the tax department

  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve tax processes using data analytics and technology

  • Partner with IT and finance systems teams to support integration of new tools

  • Assist in developing documentation, training, and best practices for new processes

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in tax automation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • 3-5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax compliance; exposure to international tax is a plus

  • Experience with indirect taxes (sales/use tax, VAT, GST) preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with tax provision concepts under ASC 740

  • Experience working with ERP systems and tax software (e.g., OneSource, Vertex)

  • Interest in or experience with automation, data analytics, or AI tools in tax or finance functions
