Based in NSW Australia- GIS on site service technician

Job Description

At GE Vernova, we are committed to delivering safe, reliable, and innovative energy solutions that help power the world.

As part of our growing Grid Solutions service team, we are seeking an experienced Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS – B105/F35) / Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS – GL) Technician to support critical customer operations across Australia based in New South Wales on a FIFO roster.

This role is ideal for a motivated technician who brings strong technical capability, a passion for safety, and the desire to continuously develop within a global energy technology leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute GIS activities to B105 and F35 Level 4 competency standards

  • Perform maintenance, fault finding, repairs, inspections, and life-extension work on customer equipment

  • Develop capability in AIS GL314 and above through structured cross-training

  • Deliver high-quality on-site service while upholding GE Vernova’s safety, quality, and compliance standards

  • Apply technical judgment within established procedures, escalating issues when required

  • Support team leadership and potentially guide junior technicians

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a clear and professional technical representative of GE Vernova

  • Document service tasks accurately using GE digital tools and reporting systems

Required Qualifications

  • Recognised Electrical or Mechanical Qualification

  • Demonstrated experience with HV equipment, ideally GIS/AIS systems

  • EWP, Working at Heights, and Confined Space certifications (highly desirable)

  • Construction White Card

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Competence with digital tools and basic computer applications

  • Understanding of CB (circuit breaker) testing principles

  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to meet GE Vernova’s medical, fitness, and site-access requirements for FIFO operations
