The company is seeking a dedicated remote estimator who will become a fully integrated member of the team rather than an external vendor or outsourced resource.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Plumbing Estimator to support preconstruction efforts for complex HVAC and plumbing projects. This individual will play a critical role in preparing accurate takeoffs, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, managing bid documentation, and supporting the estimating process from initial plans through final submission.

The ideal candidate has strong experience working on complex mechanical and plumbing systems such as hospitals, chilled water systems, and large commercial projects requiring detailed plan and specification review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for mechanical, plumbing, and sheet metal systems.

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for complex projects.

  • Utilize AutoBid software for mechanical and sheet metal estimating.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and scope clarification.

  • Prepare bid proposals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and submittal documentation.

  • Manage estimated revisions and support ongoing preconstruction activities.

  • Collaborate closely with internal project teams throughout the bidding process.

  • Participate in daily workflows, meetings, and systems as a fully integrated member of the team.

  • Support project handoff from estimating to operations when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent construction estimating experience.

  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Minimum of 8 years of estimating experience in mechanical and plumbing construction, or

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of estimating experience with significant exposure to heavy plan and specification projects, including chilled water systems, hospitals, and complex mechanical/plumbing installations.

  • Proficiency with AutoBid for mechanical and sheet metal estimating is required.

  • Experience preparing detailed estimates, bid packages, RFIs, and preconstruction documentation.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing construction methods, materials, and pricing.

  • Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative within a remote team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating healthcare and hospital projects.

  • Extensive experience with chilled water systems and large-scale mechanical infrastructure.

  • Experience using QuoteSoft.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and other industry-standard estimating software.

  • Experience supporting large commercial, institutional, or industrial projects.
