Full Job Description

About us

Knowunity is one of the fastest-growing AI learning apps. Founded out of high school, it’s now used by millions of students every day. We’re building an AI companion that understands students better than anyone else — their school context, curriculum, learning preferences, and topic-level weaknesses — to help them reach their goals and replace old-fashioned tutoring.

We’ve raised €50M and built a human-sized team of ~60 people. We operate in 20+ markets, serve millions of daily active users, and reached billions of Tiktok views this year. We’re scaling fast toward becoming the #1 AI learning companion for 1Bn students.

We’re backed by a team of cracked engineers pushing the boundaries of consumer AI. A few examples:

  • Ahmed, repeat founder, raised €4M, ex-Uber — cracking AI video generation internally

  • Roman, previous founder of a 200k-user app, Cambridge graduate — leading our new AI products

  • Katalin, former deep learning researcher, Oxford graduate — handling trillions of data points

  • Ingimar, previous founder, UCL & TU graduate — building multimodal AI interfaces

Why you could be a fit

We’re looking for a high-agency, hands-on Lead of Product Design who deeply cares about what they put into the world.

Design is the most critical job to be done right now at Knowunity. We’re data-driven and strong on A/B testing. We’ve made many decisions based on metrics. Not enough on taste. Not enough craft. Despite being loved by over a million students every day, the product doesn’t yet meet the bar of a world-class consumer company. Your job is to change that.

If you succeed, the app will look and feel fundamentally different within a year. You’ll define a new visual direction, build the team to execute it, and create design systems that scale. You will have the trust, the team and the means to do so.

You likely have ~5 years of experience in a B2C startup and have shipped products that moved key metrics — by a lot. You’ll own how the product looks, feels, and works, end to end.

We value designers who:

  • Care. You deeply care about quality, details, users, and the full experience. You push back until the bar is raised.

  • Think. You think in systems, not screens. With data, not just intuition. For millions of users, not the perfect one.

  • Build. You build prototypes — Figma, motion, experiments. You’re a visual creative iterating on your own ideas.

  • Own. You own the vision, decisions, and roadmap. You lead by doing — and you’re the best designer in the room.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary + significant equity

  • Awesome colleagues & moments together

  • New, cosy office in central Berlin (mostly in-person; monthly paid visits if remote)

  • Paid office dinners & friday lunches company-wide

  • 28 days holiday (+1 per year), 40 days work from anywhere

  • Urban Sports Club, mental health budget via Nilo, personal development budget

  • Visa & relocation support

This isn’t a slow place. We ship with high urgency. We have a huge mission and a limited time window to build a generational company. It’s your chance to have real impact and help shape how kids will learn in tomorrow’s world.

Application process

  2. Conversation with Paul (Product) about your past work, goals, and ambition

  3. Deep-dive call with Gregor (CPO) to review our app and design thinking

  4. Paid onsite day to meet the team, explore designs together & final founder interview

  5. Offer the next day

  6. Contract signing

  7. Onboarding

These steps can be completed within 5 days.
