Full Job Description
About us
Knowunity is one of the fastest-growing AI learning apps. Founded out of high school, it’s now used by millions of students every day. We’re building an AI companion that understands students better than anyone else — their school context, curriculum, learning preferences, and topic-level weaknesses — to help them reach their goals and replace old-fashioned tutoring.
We’ve raised €50M and built a human-sized team of ~60 people. We operate in 20+ markets, serve millions of daily active users, and reached billions of Tiktok views this year. We’re scaling fast toward becoming the #1 AI learning companion for 1Bn students.
We’re backed by a team of cracked engineers pushing the boundaries of consumer AI. A few examples:
Ahmed, repeat founder, raised €4M, ex-Uber — cracking AI video generation internally
Roman, previous founder of a 200k-user app, Cambridge graduate — leading our new AI products
Katalin, former deep learning researcher, Oxford graduate — handling trillions of data points
Ingimar, previous founder, UCL & TU graduate — building multimodal AI interfaces
Why you could be a fit
We’re looking for high-agency Design Engineers who are obsessed with craft and building.
Design is the most critical job to be done right now at Knowunity. We’re data-driven and strong on A/B testing. We’ve made many decisions based on metrics. Not enough on taste. Not enough craft. Despite being loved by over a million students every day, the product doesn’t yet meet the bar of a world-class consumer company. You will change that.
You’ll transform entire parts of the app and make them feel genuinely great. You’ll work closely with the Founders and Engineering teams to ship features that are interactive, production-ready, and well built—showing craft in both design and code.
You’ll build your own projects from scratch. You could build growth features to make us go viral (a web tool, an in-app flow, or a social sharing feature) or experimental design interfaces for education.
You likely have 2–5 years of experience building your own thing, working in a B2C startup, and have shipped high-performing interfaces that both moved metrics and delighted users. Whether designing a growth experiment, onboarding flow, or gamified feature, you can point to exactly how your work impacted key metrics.
We value designers who:
Care. You deeply care about quality: micro-animations, user delight, and the full experience.
Think. You think in systems, not screens. With data, not just intuition. For millions of users, not the perfect one.
Build. You just build MVPs for product ideas that would normally take weeks to ship.
Scale. You build systems and scale your design into production—you code your own components and a design system that make AI prototyping fast.
