Full Job Description

Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization—we’ve grown from $0 to >$10M in annual recurring revenue in less than 2 years, and currently help more than 400,000 new patients every month.

We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

About The Role:

We’re hiring a Founding Data Analytics Engineer to scale the data foundation that powers every decision and insight at Develop Health. You’ll build on our existing dbt + Snowflake stack and lead the creation of our AI-first analytics layer, including the setup of Hex to empower self-service insights across teams. You’ll also own our user-facing analytics product, designing metrics and visualizations that help clients understand their performance and take action.

Reporting directly to the CTO and working on-site in our Menlo Park office at least three days a week, you’ll bridge engineering, data, and product to build trusted, scalable analytics that accelerate our impact.

What You’ll Do – Impact In Your First 3–6 Months:

  • Build, refine, and productionize dbt models that transform operational data into reliable business datasets.

  • Ensure systematic tracking of core company metrics, such as: patient access time reduction and prior authorization automation rate

  • Stand up Hex (or a similar AI-first BI platform) to enable a scalable, self-service analytics culture across teams.

  • Collaborate with Product, Ops, and Engineering to deliver high-impact dashboards and metric definitions used daily by leadership.

  • Partner with design and engineering to evolve the user-facing analytics experience, ensuring our clients get actionable insights directly within our product.

What You’ll Own – Driving Growth Beyond 12 Months:

  • Scale our data architecture to support 100x transaction volume while maintaining high data reliability and performance.

  • Design and maintain a metrics layer and semantic model that ensures consistency across internal and external analytics.

  • Expand our AI-first BI capabilities, enabling intelligent query generation, anomaly detection, and automated insights.

  • Establish a world-class analytics foundation that supports predictive modeling and AI-driven operations.

  • Mentor future analytics hires and build the data function into a force multiplier for every team at Develop Health.

What You’ll Bring On Day 1:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or analytics engineering roles.

  • Deep expertise in SQL and dbt; you write clean, documented, testable transformations.

  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake and modern BI tools (e.g., Hex, Looker, Mode, or Tableau).

  • Proven ability to define and operationalize business metrics across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business goals into data solutions.

  • Passion for building elegant, trustworthy analytics that drive both internal decisions and customer experiences.

  • Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy.

  • Availability to work on-site in Menlo Park at least three days per week.

What You’ll Need To Learn Quickly:

  • How our AI systems integrate with benefit verification and prior authorization workflows, and develop a deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem—how data moves through payers, providers, and patients, and how our automation fits into these processes.

  • Our internal data sources, operational rhythms, and model evaluation standards.

  • Emerging AI techniques relevant to retrieval‑augmented generation, fine‑tuning, and evaluation automation.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with data ingestion tools (Airbyte, Fivetran, etc.).

  • Background in healthtech or automation-heavy industries.

  • Familiarity with Python for orchestration or light analytics tasks.

  • Interest in AI-assisted analytics and semantic layers.

  • Early-stage startup experience.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity in a company growing 10× year-over-year.

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage; flexible PTO.

  • High-end workstation & tooling budget.

  • The chance to make healthcare faster, fairer, and more accessible for millions of patients!
