Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization—we’ve achieved 10x revenue growth over the past year, growing from $0 to >$10M in annual recurring revenue in less than 2 years, and currently help more than 400,000 new patients every month.
We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.
About The Role
We're hiring a Head of People to build and lead our people function from the ground up. You will own recruiting, HR, culture, and team development as we scale from a small, elite team into a company that can support hundreds of employees. This role is equal parts strategic and hands-on: you'll design the systems, policies, and programs that attract world-class talent and create an environment where they do the best work of their careers.
What You'll Do
Immediate Impact - 3-6 Months:
- Own end-to-end recruiting - Build and run the hiring pipeline for engineering, GTM, and operations roles; partner with hiring managers to define roles, source candidates, and close top talent fast.
- Design onboarding that accelerates ramp - Create a structured onboarding program that gets new hires productive and culturally integrated within their first 30 days.
- Establish compensation and leveling frameworks - Build transparent comp bands and leveling guides that let us make competitive, equitable offers quickly.
- Shape the employee experience from day one - Define the rituals, norms, and feedback loops that make people love working at Develop Health.
Long-Term Impact - 12+ Months:
- Scale the team - Drive headcount planning, workforce strategy, and employer branding to support our next phase of growth.
- Build a high-performance culture - Design performance review cycles, feedback systems, and manager development programs that reinforce our values and raise the bar.
- Employee experience and retention - Own engagement surveys, career development paths, and offboarding; make people love working at Develop Health.
- Policy and compliance - Maintain employment law compliance across jurisdictions, manage employee relations, and develop the employee handbook as the company matures.
- Leadership partner - Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and exec team on organizational design, team dynamics, and people strategy.
What You'll Bring
You'll Ideally Have:
- 2-5 years of experience in people ops, HR, or talent at high-growth tech or health-tech startups.
- Demonstrated ability to build systems and processes from scratch in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle recruiting, compensation design, and employment law fundamentals.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with modern tooling, automation, and data-driven decision making.
- High-slope learner who thrives on ambiguity and balances strategic thinking with sleeves-rolled-up execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; can build trust across all levels of the organization.
Bonus Points if You Have:
- Experience in healthcare or health-tech companies navigating compliance-heavy environments.
- Background in organizational psychology, executive coaching, or leadership development.
- Familiarity with modern People tools (Ashby, Rippling, Lattice, or similar).
