Full Job Description

Job Title: Contract Financial Modeler (Excel)
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract (20- 40 hours/week; Full Time preferred; highly qualified candidates may be considered for Part time roles)

We are partnering with a U.S.-based technology company building advanced AI systems focused on financial modeling and decision-making. The goal is to train AI to think like real financial professionals, how models are built from scratch, how assumptions are structured, and how decisions are made using financial models.

This is a hands-on Excel modeling role. You will be expected to build detailed financial models from a blank spreadsheet and clearly explain your logic. We prioritize candidates who can build full models end-to-end and explain why a model works, rather than just producing outputs or dashboards. We're focusing on strong specific domain experience in Credit, Debt, and Private Equity.
Candidates from investment banking, corporate finance, treasury, quantitative finance, or related backgrounds who have built full models end-to-end from scratch are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Build financial models from scratch in Excel across different use cases
• Structure assumptions, drivers, and logic while linking full model flows (cash flow, debt, returns, scenarios)
• Review, debug, and improve model accuracy by identifying incorrect assumptions, broken logic, and risks
• Analyze relationships across cash flow, debt, and returns
• Clearly explain financial logic, decision-making, and why a model works
• Translate real-world financial thinking into structured outputs

Must-Have Requirements

• 2–10 years of experience in finance roles with heavy modeling exposure (with priority focus on Credit, Debt, and Private Equity, but open to Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Quantitative Finance, or related backgrounds)
• Proven ability to build full financial models from a blank spreadsheet/scratch in Excel without using templates, tools, or AI
• Hands-on experience building full end-to-end models (such as 3-statement borrower models, cash flow-based lending/debt sizing, covenant modeling, loan structuring, or full LBO models with sources & uses, debt schedules, and returns/IRR/MOIC)
• Experience building decision-driving models and strong understanding of how models are used in real financial decisions
• High attention to detail, model accuracy, and strong communication skills in English • Ability to clearly explain your work and financial logic in detail

Nice-to-Have

• Asset-Based Lending (ABL) modeling experience (borrowing base models, advance rates, eligibility, dilution, collateral-driven lending)
• Structured Finance / Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) modeling experience (cash flow waterfall models, tranching, credit enhancement, loss assumptions, prepayment/default scenarios)
• Risk & Portfolio Modeling experience (scenario/stress-testing models, loss modeling for default/recovery/exposure, portfolio-level analysis)

Why Join?

• Flexible, asynchronous work hours
• Opportunity to work at the intersection of AI technology and advanced financial modeling
