Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Field Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of AeroVect's autonomous driving stack. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical background in Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles and excels across various areas of the autonomy stack, making them a versatile generalist engineer. In this role, you will leverage your strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our autonomous vehicles for airport logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain software for autonomous vehicles using C++ and ROS2.

  • Good understanding of the entire stack to debug and troubleshoot issues with the autonomous system in real-time at the customer site, providing quick and effective solutions.

  • Work closely with the hardware and software engineering teams to integrate new features and improvements into the autonomous system.

  • Conduct and orchestrate field tests with the testing engineers to validate the performance and safety of the autonomous vehicles.

  • Analyze data from field tests and deployments to identify and address issues, optimizing the performance of the system.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of the autonomous vehicles.

  • Must be able to pass federal background checks and receive and maintain issuance of an airport security badge

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  • At least 1-2 years of experience working with autonomous vehicles or robotics systems.

  • Strong proficiency in C++ and ROS2 framework (including tools like Rviz, Rqt, plotjuggler, etc)

  • Advanced understanding of Git and Linux.

  • Strong reasoning skills and mathematics background including linear algebra, geometry, calculus, and probability to name a few.

  • Excellent debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly.

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Robotics or a related field.

  • Experience with sensor integration and diagnostics managers for autonomous systems.

  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

  • Advanced proficiency in Python or Shell Scripting for automation purposes.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dynamic field environments.
