Full Job Description

Responsibilities

The Pro Routing (PRX) team is responsible for the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-grade routing and WAN technologies across NETGEAR’s professional and managed networking products. The team ensures reliable, scalable, and secure routing solutions for SMB and Pro customers.

The PRX team focuses on Layer 3 networking, WAN connectivity, and traffic steering, including but not limited to:

  • Design and development of routing features (IPv4/IPv6)

  • Implementation and maintenance of:

    • Static routing

    • Policy-based routing (PBR)

    • Multi-WAN, failover, and load-balancing

    • Dynamic routing protocols (as applicable)

  • WAN technologies:

    • DHCP client/server/relay

    • PPPoE

    • NAT / NAPT

    • Firewall interaction and routing policies

    • Dual WAN

  • High availability and resiliency:

    • Link health monitoring

    • Failover logic

    • Recovery and stability tuning

  • Performance and scalability optimization

  • Integration with platform services, UI, and cloud management where applicable

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field)

  • 4 - 6 years of relevant work experience

Skills Required

  • Strong C Programming Skills

  • Embedded Linux exposure / Linux networking Stack

  • Networking protocols TCP/IP, VPN, NAT, Firewall Exposure

  • Netfilter / iptables / nftables

  • Routing tables, policy rules, metrics

  • Traffic classification and marking

  • System diagnostics and packet analysis

  • Standards compliance (RFCs related to routing, DHCP, IP, ICMP)

  • Linux VPNs & cryptography basics

  • DNS, NAT, firewall interactions

  • Debugging encrypted traffic paths
