About the role:

As a Credit Manager, you will lead the credit function, providing guidance and oversight on credit assessments, coaching your team, and ensuring adherence to Shift’s policies and standards. You will manage credit risk, support Relationship Managers and Sales teams, and drive continuous improvement across credit processes.


What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support the credit team to assess commercial credit based on financial statements, bank statements, and non-traditional data

  • Provide coaching and support to Relationship Managers and Sales teams to structure credit solutions for business customers

  • Conduct phone interviews with applicants and brokers to discuss loan applications, including negotiation of key criteria

  • Build meaningful relationships with peers, internal stakeholders, and other teams to support business performance

  • Ensure accurate recording of key risk factors and mitigation strategies to support decision-making

  • Prepare sound credit assessments for recommendation to higher delegation holders where required

  • Ensure adherence to Shift’s Credit Underwriting standards, policies, and compliance requirements

  • Maintain data integrity in all core systems and ensure all compliance training is up to date

  • Identify potential process and service enhancements to improve team outputs

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience assessing commercial credit based on financial statements, bank statements, and non-traditional data

  • Experience in risk or analytics roles is advantageous but not essential

  • Experience with finance products embedded in Point-of-Sale environments is advantageous but not essential

  • Attention to detail, strong investigative skills, and ability to make logical and considered decisions

  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

  • Tertiary qualifications preferred

  • Previous Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) for commercial/business lending preferred

  • Business acumen and strong understanding of the SME market
