Role Overview
Chartis is seeking a Business Process Consultant with 5+ years of Epic Patient Access leadership experience and experience with Epic Cheers to join our Revenue Cycle Transformation Practice.
As a Business Process Consultant, you’ll design solutions and workflows aimed at improving both patient access operations and digital patient engagement for our clients. You will primarily work with organizations using Epic’s HER and Cheers platforms, advising on and implementing best practices across patient access applications and patient-facing digital tools.
You’ll lead efforts to gather business requirements, design workflows, and optimize both front-end revenue cycle functions and digital engagement strategies. The role involves close collaboration with executive leadership, IT, and cross-functional teams to align patient access and patient experience initiatives with broader organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Workflow Analysis and Design: Evaluate current front-end patient access workflows (scheduling, registration, referrals, etc.) and digital engagement workflows (e.g., patient outreach, scheduling channels, communication strategies). Identify bottlenecks, compliance risks, and opportunities for improved patient access and experience. Design future-state workflows aligned with Epic and Cheers best practices.
System Configuration and Build: Advise IT teams on best practices for configuring Epic’s patient access modules (Cadence, Prelude, Referrals, Welcome, and RTE) and Cheers functionality. When needed, complete in-system configuration/build.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with clients’ revenue cycle, digital/patient experience, compliance, IT, and clinical teams. Act as liaison between operational and technical stakeholders by translating business needs into Epic and Cheers solutions.
Optimization and Reporting: Develop and/or monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across patient access and digital engagement. Recommend ongoing improvements and system enhancements. Guide reporting efforts using Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, and other tools.
Testing and Validation: Guide and support testing efforts (unit, integrated, user acceptance testing, etc.) across both patient access and digital engagement solutions.
Regulatory and Compliance Guidance: Ensure workflows support accurate data capture for demographics, insurance, referrals, and patient communications to ensure clean claims and compliant outreach practices.
Project Management: Develop and manage project plans, anticipate and resolve issues, facilitate change management, and present project updates to leadership. Lead teams through successful end-to-end work plan execution.
Client Communication: Create concise, and client-ready communications with clear storylines and actionable recommendations.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
5+ years in a patient access leadership role.
Experience with Epic Cheers functionality (implementation, optimization, and certification strongly preferred). Certification in Cadence and Cheers required. Additional Epic patient access certifications preferred.
In-depth understanding of patient scheduling and registration workflows, front-end revenue cycle and financial clearance processes, healthcare compliance, and patient experience considerations.
Strong project management and communication skills.
Ability to bridge technical configuration with operational needs.
Strong ability to speak to and drive organizational KPIs.
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with all levels of an organization, both verbally and in writing.
Salary range: $118,000-$172,500, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs. In addition, Chartis offers several benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, wellness stipend, and additional voluntary benefits.
At Chartis, we pride ourselves on having a diverse workforce. We value and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and the different perspectives they provide. We offer equal opportunity employment regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability status, age, marital status, or protected veteran status.
