Full Job Description

About Us

At M-KOPA, we've unlocked $2 billion in cumulative credit for the unbanked across Africa. We've grown from serving 3 million customers to 7 million customers—and we're deliberately expanding our data infrastructure to scale further. We're not hiring randomly. We're building the analytics foundation for our next growth phase, where every data-driven decision compounds across millions of customers.

What You'll Do

  • Hunt for insight, not just answer requests. You'll identify opportunities where analysis drives real value—by talking with teams across the business and asking what decisions would change with better data.

  • Transform messy data into clarity. You'll query internal and external databases using SQL, clean and interpret datasets, and build models in SQL, R, and Excel that uncover patterns other people miss.

  • Tell stories people actually listen to. You'll design clear, impactful presentations of your findings and train stakeholders throughout the business to think more rigorously about data.

What Makes This Different

Most analytics roles hand you a dashboard to maintain. Here, you'll have autonomy to identify what matters next. You won't build unused reports—your insights directly inform product roadmaps, customer acquisition strategy, and operational improvements. 86% of our customers report improved quality of life and understanding how to measure and improve that requires deep analytical work.

You'll work with leadership that actually uses data to make decisions. That accountability is real. Your analysis shapes how we serve 7 million customers and unlock credit for the unbanked. It's not internal optimization—it's financial inclusion infrastructure.

What You Need

  • Extensive progressive experience in data analytics, with strong proficiency in Excel analysis and SQL querying. You've built models, cleaned datasets, and communicated findings to non-technical audiences.

  • Additional technical skills in R, Python, DAX, or visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau. You're comfortable learning new tools and applying them to business problems.

  • Genuine curiosity and business judgment. You ask good questions. You notice when something doesn't add up. You want to understand why before settling for what.

The Honest Part

This role is demanding. You'll encounter data quality issues, conflicting priorities, and the complexity of scaling analytics across a fast-growing company. But if you're energized by untangling complex problems and want your analysis to actually drive decisions that matter—this is the moment.
