At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator to and naturally core to how you solve problems and accelerate your daily impact. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
As VP, Deputy General Counsel, Product & IP, you will serve as a senior leader within the Legal organization, reporting to the General Counsel. You will own and scale the Product, IP, and Marketing legal functions, and play a critical role in shaping the legal strategy that enables Snowflake’s continued innovation in the AI Data Cloud.
You will partner closely with peer leaders, including Commercial, Tech Transactions & Alliances, and Legal Operations, as well as executives across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and IT. This role requires a balance of strategic judgment, operational excellence, and technical fluency, along with the ability to lead through complexity and drive execution at global scale.
What You’ll Do
Own the legal strategy supporting Snowflake’s product and engineering organizations. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Product and Engineering leadership, including EVP and SVP-level stakeholders, guiding legal decisions across the full product lifecycle, from core cloud infrastructure to AI/ML offerings. Enable global product launches while balancing speed, risk, and regulatory requirements.
Lead the development and implementation of legal frameworks for generative AI, including LLM integration, data provenance, model governance, and compliance with evolving global regulations such as the EU AI Act and GDPR. Help establish Snowflake as a trusted leader in responsible AI.
Oversee Snowflake’s global intellectual property strategy, including patents, trademarks, open source considerations, and IP litigation. Provide leadership across both offensive and defensive IP strategy, including oversight of a large-scale global portfolio and complex, high-stakes disputes.
Partner closely with the CMO and marketing leadership to support Snowflake’s global brand and go-to-market strategy. Provide legal guidance on product positioning, competitive claims, brand protection, and strategic partnerships, ensuring messaging is both compelling and compliant.
Support the creation and maintenance of product-specific terms and custom offering frameworks in close collaboration with other Legal functions.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals. Establish clear priorities, drive accountability, and foster a culture of collaboration, urgency, and high performance.
Partner with Legal leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities, allocate resources, and execute against strategic initiatives across Product, IP, and Marketing Legal.
Partner closely with Legal Operations to implement scalable processes, tools, automation, and AI solutions that improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enable the Legal team to operate at Snowflake’s velocity.
Provide pragmatic, business-oriented counsel to senior executives, contributing to company-wide strategy and enabling informed decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements

15+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house leadership experience and a track record of leading and scaling high-performing teams. Experience within a leading cloud, SaaS, or high-growth technology company is strongly preferred.
Deep experience advising Product and Engineering teams, with a strong track record in product counseling, global intellectual property strategy, and supporting marketing and competitive claims in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of legal frameworks governing generative AI, including LLM data provenance, model governance, algorithmic accountability, and global privacy and regulatory standards.
Familiarity with cloud architectures, distributed systems, and machine learning concepts, with the ability to translate technical roadmaps into clear, practical legal guidance.
Proven ability to operate as a senior leader, providing pragmatic, business-oriented counsel to C-suite executives and cross-functional stakeholders, and driving alignment across a global organization.
