About the Role
Equip is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible MD/DO in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join its rapidly growing clinical care team caring for patients ages 6-99 years with eating disorders in a 100% virtual Telehealth platform.
Physicians are essential members of Equip's multidisciplinary virtual treatment team, working alongside therapists, dietitians, peer coaches, and family coaches to help children, adolescents, and adults recover from eating disorders. This is a remote, full time, salaried position with flexible hours and priority for afternoon and early evening hours in your time zone.
A central and unique aspect of this role is executing collaborative practice agreements with APPs across both psychiatric and general medical backgrounds. While Equip has dedicated general medical physicians and APPs to support physical health, the supervising psychiatrist must possess a solid foundation of medical knowledge and feel highly confident in medical stability monitoring within a virtual high-acuity eating disorder ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessments, ongoing medication management, and evidence-based treatment plans for children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders and complex co-occurring conditions, while supporting families throughout the recovery process.
Perform routine chart audits and subsequent clinical and performance coaching in accordance with compliance metrics.
Maintain availability for clinical consults and curbside case escalations from team members.
Execute collaborative practice agreements for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), covering both psychiatric and general medical specialities working within a behavioral health program.
Monitor vital signs, laboratory trends, and objective parameters to ensure medical and psychiatric stability. Physicians work with our medical assistants and nurses to assist with obtaining medical records and vital signs, ordering labs and medications and facilitating care collaboration with outside providers.
Collaborate on a multidisciplinary treatment team with medical providers, therapists, dietitians, peer coaches, and family coaches to provide medical guidelines and treatment.
Communicate via electronic medical record messaging to support patients and supports, and to communicate with the treatment team.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal team members and external, outside healthcare providers to facilitate seamless care coordination and closed loop handoffs.
Document effectively and in a timely manner within Equip electronic medical record in accordance with Equip’s policies and procedures.
Participate in Treatment Team meetings, supervision, continuing education and department meetings.
Perform routine chart audits and subsequent clinical and performance coaching in accordance with compliance metrics.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry required (board eligible candidates who completed an accredited fellowship will also be considered.
Licensure: Active, unrestricted medical license in one or more states, with a strong willingness to obtain multi-state licensure to align with the APP footprint (Equip fully supports and covers multi-state licensing costs).
3+ years of clinical practice with demonstrated success in supervising, mentoring, and providing clinical oversight to advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs).
Proven experience or strong baseline competence in eating disorder medical management, including evaluating refeeding risks, monitoring psychiatric/medical stability variables, and managing high-risk psychotropic medications.
Exceptional communication skills with a track history of collaboration with diverse teams and external providers.
Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced startup and changing clinical and organizational priorities demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision making skills.
Deep clinical maturity to navigate complex cases while maintaining therapeutic relationships and providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Working Hours are in EST.
Time Expectations
Direct Patient Care: Up to 50% of your time is in direct patient care.
Administrative Time: Approximately 50% of your time is administrative.
This allows time to manage responsibilities such as responding to between-session messages, completing documentation, holding unanticipated sessions with care team members or patients, or any other required administrative tasks.
Weekly Supervision of APPs.
Weekly Treatment Team Meetings.

Earning Potential Range: $240,000 to $300,000 Annually + 15% Performance Bonus Potential

Student Loan Repayment:
$500/quarter for employees under a year of tenure.

Robust training in evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, including Family-Based Treatment, Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for ARFID. Comparable training workshops and supervision in these modalities are valued over $3,000.

Licensing:
Equip reimburses fees associated with initial licensure and license renewals (e.g., exam fees, application to the state board, exam study materials, etc.) for any Equip-required licenses and/or cross-licensure requests.
Work From Home Additional Perks:
$50/month stipend added directly to an employee’s paycheck to cover home internet expenses.
Initial work-from-home stipend of up to $500.
Reload of $200 on the home office stipend at the 3-year mark and then every other year after that (year 5, year 7, etc.).

Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
