About the Role:

As a Specialized Technical Services (STS) Solutions Engineer within the Confluent Global Scale Solutions Engineering team, you will develop deep technical expertise to serve as a high-impact resource for both our customers and field teams. You will play a pivotal role in driving Data Streaming Platform (DSP) adoption by supporting complex solution design engagements and moving new use cases into production. By leveraging your technical prowess and service-oriented mindset, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and innovative Apache Kafka-based solutions, unblocking technical roadblocks and ensuring our customers realize the full value of the Confluent platform.

What You Will Do:

• Drive DSP Adoption: Partner with field teams to accelerate the adoption of the Data Streaming Platform by moving complex customer use cases from initial concept into full production environments.

• Expert Solution Design: Support high-touch solution design engagements, providing deep technical architectural guidance to ensure scalable and resilient deployments.

• Unblock Technical Roadblocks: Act as an escalation point to identify and resolve critical technical hurdles, ensuring seamless integration and blueprinting during the customer journey.

• Strategic Technical Discovery: Conduct deep-dive discovery sessions to gather requirements and develop high-fidelity Proof of Concept (POC) solutions that demonstrate Confluent's unique value.

• Scale Through Artifacts: Architect and maintain advanced technical artifacts, including reusable architecture blueprints, prototypes, and automated tools that empower the broader SE community.

• Global Technical Enablement: Deliver expert-level workshops, webinars, and training sessions to educate partners and internal teams on the latest DSP features and best practices.

What You Will Bring:

• 4+ years of Solutions Engineering or similar work experience in a technical pre-sales capacity.

• Process & Efficiency, a “scale” mindset. An ability to quickly leverage standardized demo environments, template proposals, and documented Proof of Concept (PoC) scopes to minimize preparation time.

• Experience with Event-Driven architecture, Data Integration & Processing Techniques, Database & Data Warehouse technologies.

• First-Hand exposure to Cloud Architecture, Migrations, Deployment & Application Development.

• Experience with Automation, GitOps and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in Java, Python or SQL.

• Development or implementation experience in a cloud-based environment, along with Technical certifications (e.g., Cloud Developer/Architect, Data Engineering & Integration).

• Clear, consistent demonstration of self-starter behavior, a desire to learn new things and tackle hard technical problems.

• Managing multiple evaluation processes across various industry verticals and use cases, ability to be nimble and organized is a must

• Exceptional presentation and communications capabilities to all levels across an organization.

• Ability to explain complex concepts in plain, non-technical language that resonates with mid-level managers and business owners.

• Fluency in English is a requisite.

What Gives You an Edge:

• Previous experience building solutions with Apache Kafka.

• Understanding of systems operations concepts (disk, network, operating systems, etc).

• Experience with software development tools, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD tooling (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus

• Experience building and operating large scale systems.

• Experience in technical pre-sales or consultative roles.
