ALSO is looking for a Staff Structures Design Engineer to design frame, suspension, brakes, body panels, and other chassis components critical for the next generation light electric vehicles

What You Will Do

  • Design and model mechanical components and assemblies (e.g., die castings, injection-molded. plastics, sheet metal, fasteners).

  • Create detailed 2D drawings and manufacturing documentation.

  • Apply topology optimization to balance structural strength within packaging constraints.

  • Execute linear static stress analyses for complete chassis systems.

  • Lead design verification planning and reporting (DVP&R).

  • Develop and maintain program-specific design failure mode and effects analyses (DFMEAs).

  • Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies.

  • Coordinate validation efforts between Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and test teams from concept through production.

  • Support hands-on prototype builds and component fabrication

What You Will Bring

  • Skilled in developing and evaluating multiple design concepts considering performance, cost,manufacturability, and packaging constraints.

  • Experience designing structural components for high-volume production.

  • Familiar with DFM for die casting, sand casting, forging, injection molding, and stamping.

  • Proficient in CAE tools (Sim Solid, Ansys) with strong grasp of boundary conditions and load
    application.

  • Proficient in 3D/2D CAD modeling (Catia V5/V6 preferred).

  • Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and material properties

  • Knowledge of PLM systems, engineering change processes, and BOM structuring.

  • Experienced in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and documentation.

  • Experience bringing products into production

The salary for this position ranges from $190,000 - $225,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
