Full Job Description

Build the data infrastructure for robots operating in the real world.

Robotics is moving from research labs into production across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments. When robots fail, behave unexpectedly, or need to be improved, engineers rely on data to understand what actually happened.

At Foxglove, we build the observability, visualization, and data infrastructure that makes that possible. Our tools are used by robotics and autonomous systems teams to ingest, store, query, replay, and analyze massive volumes of multimodal sensor data from live systems and from production fleets.

About the role

Foxglove is a robotics observability and visualization platform. We manage and provide access to large amounts of data across both our hosted platform and customer sites.

We’re seeking a highly skilled product and data-oriented Product Engineer with professional experience developing on-device software for developers to provide observability and connectivity. You’ll work with other engineers to design and develop our SDK, user interfaces, on-device software, connectivity and data ingestion systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrating with a variety of robotics frameworks and multiple-language SDKs

  • Building reliable, low-resource utilization software to run on a myriad of devices

  • Providing connectivity, observability and telemetry on devices running in constrained environments or in the field

  • Building distributed systems to collect and transform observability data

  • Multi-cloud architecture (we deploy in customer cloud accounts across GCP/AWS/Azure)

Our technical stack includes:

  • Rust

  • Node.js (TypeScript)

  • PostgreSQL

  • Managed Kubernetes environments in GCP

  • Customer deployments in Azure and AWS

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years professional experience in writing high-performance production software

  • Significant professional experience building on-device software in C++ or Rust

  • Familiarity with ROS, or other robotics stacks

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tooling

  • Passion for building technical tools with engineers as the primary users

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small team environment

  • Considers the customer impact when making technical decisions

  • Bonus points:

    • Robotics or AV experience

    • Infrastructure management (IaC/Terraform, k8s, cloud providers, security)

What We Offer

  • $300 monthly budget towards commuter benefits or building your personal workspace (remote only)

  • Competitive equity grant in a Series B company

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Term Life insurance coverage at 100% for employees and 75% for dependents

  • 401(k) matching up to 4%

  • 4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter break

  • All expenses paid company off-sites 1-2× per year
