Design at Preply

At Preply, we believe learning with the right tutor can be life-changing. Designing products that help people build confidence, make progress, and unlock opportunity through learning is both a privilege and a responsibility. It takes a diverse, multidisciplinary team to build a product at this scale - and Design plays a central role in shaping how learners and tutors experience Preply every day.

Design at Preply is about creating bold, beautiful, and seamless experiences that feel intuitive, motivating, and human. We care deeply about craft - not just at the surface level, but in how experiences are shaped end-to-end - and about turning deep user understanding into products that meaningfully improve outcomes.

This is a senior and strategic IC role with broad influence. As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll operate beyond a single problem space, shaping direction across complex areas of the product and raising the bar for design quality through both your work and your influence on others.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Shape high-impact product experiences that help learners and tutors connect, engage, and succeed over time, influencing direction across complex areas of the product.

  • Co-create product strategy and experience direction in close partnership with Product, Engineering, and leadership, influencing priorities across interconnected initiatives.

  • Own design end-to-end across multi-threaded work, connecting long-term vision with high-quality execution.

  • Drive exploration, prototyping, and experimentation, pushing beyond existing patterns to meaningfully improve usability, effectiveness, and value.

  • Contribute to shared patterns and the design system, helping ensure consistency and coherence across the product.

  • Mentor and coach other designers through feedback, pairing, and critique, raising the bar through collaboration and example.

  • Engage actively in cross-functional discussions and workshops, helping teams navigate ambiguity and move toward clarity.

What you need to succeed:

  • Proven experience operating at a Staff Product Designer level, with ownership over broad, high-impact product areas.

  • A strong track record of co-creating product direction in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and leadership.

  • Exceptional craft and product judgment, demonstrated through shipped work with clear impact.

  • Deep user empathy, with experience synthesizing research, data, and insight into confident design decisions.

  • Experience designing, building, or scaling AI-driven product features in user-facing products in a big plus.

  • Experience mentoring and coaching other designers, both informally and through regular feedback and critique.

Why you’ll love it at Preply:

  • An open, collaborative, dynamic and diverse culture;

  • A generous monthly allowance for lessons on Preply.com, Learning & Development budget and time off for your self-development;

  • A competitive financial package with equity, leave allowance and health insurance;

  • Access to free mental and physical health support platforms;

  • The opportunity to shape the lives of learners and tutors through language learning and teaching in 175 countries (and counting!).

…and more, depending on your location.
