Full Job Description

Staff Product Designer

Join GoodParty.org as a Staff Product Designer and help redesign how democracy works by building tools that empower everyday people to lead. You’ll design intuitive, high-impact experiences that support Independent candidates and elected officials reshaping how communities are represented.

This is a rare opportunity to apply your craft to a mission that directly affects millions of lives. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of shipping high-impact products in consumer internet companies or consumer-quality SaaS companies, including at least 2+ years in a staff or principal-level individual contributor role. You will own complex product areas while mentoring other designers, establishing design standards across the platform, and leveraging cutting edge AI tools to make a massive impact.

About GoodParty.org:

A majority of voters, including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither major party represents them. GoodParty.org is the solution.

We’re on a mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy by empowering Independent candidates to run, win, and serve.

Since 2024, 13,000+ Independent candidates have won their races across all 50 states using our tools, training, and support. Our AI-powered platform provides free tools to launch and run campaigns, connect with voters, and serve their communities effectively - without needing a political party and big donors. What our users have in common is that they prioritize people over parties and community over special interests. We’re not a political party, we’re a platform and a movement to democratize democracy.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Farhad Mohit ($1B+ in exits, including Flipagram/TikTok and Shopzilla), GoodParty.org is building solutions so we can have a truly representative democracy where society’s biggest problems are solved.

What you'll do:

  • Own end-to-end design for complex, high-impact product areas that serve candidates and elected officials across the country.

  • Drive design strategy and execution for features that bridge our Win (campaign tools) and Serve (constituent services) product lines.

  • Evolve our design system, creating patterns and components that enable the team to ship consistently at speed.

  • Elevate our brand expression across product touchpoints, ensuring every interaction reflects our mission while remaining accessible to all users.

  • Pioneer AI-powered design workflows that accelerate our team's velocity while maintaining craft excellence.

  • Conduct deep user research with candidates, elected officials and citizens to discover what a truly representative democracy experience looks like.

  • Implement design changes directly in our codebase using tools like Claude Code and Cursor, speeding up engineering dependencies and iteration cycles.

  • Mentor peer designers on craft excellence, systems thinking, and user research methodologies.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product leadership to ensure our most complex features ship on time and exceed user expectations.

  • Reports to the Chief Product Officer.

Who we're looking for:

  • You’re up for the audacious challenge of driving money out of politics and democratizing democracy.

  • You have 6+ years of product design experience with at least 2+ years in a staff or principal-level individual contributor role at a consumer internet company or consumer-quality SaaS company.

  • You've led the design of complex, multi-stakeholder products from 0-1 and have experience scaling features to serve thousands of users.

  • You're highly skilled in both responsive web design and native mobile applications, with a portfolio showcasing systematic thinking and craft excellence.

  • You're highly proficient with design tools like Figma and comfortable implementing design changes in code using tools like Cursor or similar.

  • You have strong AI fluency, using AI tools to accelerate your design workflow beyond basic content generation.

  • You have deep experience with user research methodologies and can synthesize insights across diverse user segments.

  • You have exceptional brand sensibility and visual taste, with the ability to elevate our product's aesthetic while maintaining accessibility and simplicity.

  • You've built or significantly contributed to design systems that enabled team velocity while maintaining product coherence.

  • You communicate complex design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders to find agreement around difficult trade-offs.

  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced startup environments where you need to balance speed with quality.

Bonus if:

  • You have experience designing for diverse user bases with varying levels of technical sophistication.

  • You've worked on products with civic, social impact, or mission-driven focus.

  • You've contributed to open-source design systems or have experience with design ops.

  • You’ve studied, worked, or volunteered in politics, civics, or democracy reform.

  • You’re tired of sitting on the sidelines while democracy fails to meet its potential – and you’re ready to use your passion for design to act.

Why you should work at GoodParty.org:

  • Join a passionate team with diverse political views focused on one mission. Our values are: People First. Direct, Open, and Honest. Empowered Ownership. Iterate for Impact. Fun Is Fuel.

  • We’re a Public Benefit Corporation that prioritizes social impact over profit.

  • Innovative Bitcoin denominated deferred bonus plan, allowing you to have the amazing upside of being in a startup while working on a truly meaningful mission.

  • Work where and how you like, on a fully remote team spread across the country.

  • 100% coverage of health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your dependents.

  • We encourage you to take time off to recharge and have an unlimited PTO (sick and vacation) policy. This is a marathon, not a sprint. We believe a work-life balance is needed to get there.

  • 401(k) program available so you can contribute toward retirement savings (no employer match).

  • Individual learning & development budget to fund your growth.

  • We’ll make sure you’ve got what you need to work remotely through our workspace setup stipend.

  • If you work from home, we give $50/month to help with your internet and other expenses. If you prefer co-working, that’s an option we can discuss too.

  • Fully funded for our mission. No stressing over whether the next round of funding will come through. Focus on making an impact. That’s what matters here.
