Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to join our electrode processing team. You will play a vital role in translating novel research into high-quality manufacturing processes for our iron-air battery technology. Your work will focus on scaling and optimizing calendering, drying, and slitting operations while collaborating closely with process engineers to ensure equipment designs meet technical requirements. This is an opportunity to directly impact the future of energy storage by owning the equipment lifecycle from initial selection through commissioning at our state-of-the-art Form Factory 1.
This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available
What you'll do:
Collaborate with the process engineering team to align equipment design with specific manufacturing needs.
Partner with procurement to identify and select high-performance equipment suppliers.
Lead the design, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT) for calendering and drying equipment.
Provide mentorship and practical guidance to technicians and junior engineers on equipment purchasing and commissioning cycles.
Prioritize safety and excellence while scaling initial process designs to full production volumes.
What you'll bring:
7+ years of practical experience in process engineering within pilot lines or fast-paced manufacturing environments.
Proven track record of equipment purchasing, commissioning, and testing with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Proficiency in statistical methods and tools such as JMP or Minitab for data-driven process development.
Deep familiarity with industrial calendering and drying processes.
Excellent communication skills and experience creating safety and quality documentation for best-in-class manufacturing practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
