Full Job Description

About Us

Phare Health is now part of R1 and its AI innovation engine, R37 Lab, bringing Phare’s frontier clinical reasoning technology together with one of the largest healthcare platforms in the U.S.

At R37 and Phare, we are building the first AI-native Healthcare Revenue Operating System: a connected platform that reasons over full medical records, payer logic, and financial workflows to automate medical coding, billing, and follow-up.

Backed by real customers, real data, and real distribution, we operate on a national scale. Our agentic AI systems already power production workflows across 95 of the top 100 U.S. health systems, processing hundreds of millions of patient encounters each year, including:

  • 180M+ Claims

  • 550M+ Patient encounters

  • 1.2B+ Workflow actions and outcomes each year

This is startup-level ownership with enterprise-level impact. If you want to build AI that ships, scales, and measurably improves how healthcare works, this is the place to do it.

The Role

  • Design, code, test, deploy, and operate frontend applications, backend services, data pipelines, and AI systems that power models, specialized reasoning and resolution agents, and human-in-the-loop AI features

  • Run A/B tests and ship production features tied to real business outcomes

  • Partner closely with product managers and operators to turn cumbersome manual workflows into agentic and AI-driven automations

  • Work with AI and ML engineers to build AI-native systems that combine deterministic logic, traditional ML models, and LLMs

  • Design and build secure, compliant, and reliable systems at scale

About You

  • Software engineer with 3-6+ years of experience building and operating production systems

  • Demonstrated experience owning features or services end-to-end in production

  • Comfortable leading projects independently, from design through deployment and iteration. You love talking to users directly to understand their needs and designing solutions hand in hand with product.

  • Experienced scaling production systems including debugging real-world issues across performance, reliability, and data correctness

  • You want meaningful ownership and the ability to influence technical and product direction

  • You’re curious about applied AI and eager to deepen your expertise

  • You care deeply about clean code, reliability, and production readiness

Healthcare experience is not required.
