Full Job Description

Location: Remote, onshore in the USA Salary: $125k to $185k per year depending on experience and skills How to Apply: Please submit your resume and a cover letter that a) highlights your relevant experience related to the qualifications listed below; b) explains your interest in Starfish in particular; and c) addresses the following questions: Have you ever worked for a technology startup, early stage company, and/or company with less than 50 employees? Please include specific details of your experience in these kinds of organizations. Please describe your scripting skills including which languages you are strongest in and, ideally, explain a few more complicated scripting projects you have done. Have you ever had any clients where the buck stopped with you to make them happy? Please describe clients you have had. For example, clients in your personal consulting practice, internal client users within your organization, external clients your organization serviced, etc. What is your superpower? Help us see the forest for the trees and tell us where you shine most and what you might uniquely contribute to our organization. Qualifications: 5+ years of Linux sysadmin experience in medium to large IT environments Strong fluency with Linux tools, debugging, and performance analysis Strong familiarity with Linux packaging tools and usage such as Yum, Apt, dpkg, Rpm Experience with parallel file systems (Lustre, GPFS, BGFS, etc) Strong Python scripting (solid skills; other high-level languages considered commensurate with experience) Familiarity with SQL and Databases. SQL scripting (Postgres direct experience a plus) Hands-on experience with NFS and SMB protocol mounting and troubleshooting Familiarity with, and experience troubleshooting permissions issues such as LDAP, active directory, and PAM Strong debugging and system diagnostics for performance analysis and problem determination Experience working with Web services such as HTML, Nginx, CGI, and Apache Competent network and network troubleshooting skills Windows administration experience a plus Experience with data protection, migration, or archiving software (i.e., NetApp, Veritas, Rubrik, Cohesity, Komprise, Commvault) is a plus. Flexibility Excellent interpersonal skills Strong communication skills (both oral and written). Independent worker with a strategic mindset and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. University degree required; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) background preferred. An advanced degree is a plus. Ability to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
