About Persona

Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly.

We’ve built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Reddit relies on Persona for age assurance and verification to comply with online safety regulations, protecting younger users while maintaining a seamless experience. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live.

We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us!

About the Role

The Persona Security Team is looking for a software engineer to help shape how highly sensitive identity and PII data is protected as our platform grows and evolves. As a platform built from and built for individual identities, security is not a layer we add later – it is core to our identity and embedded in everything we build.

In this role, you will help ensure that businesses and their users can rely on Persona to verify identity, access critical services, and protect sensitive data. You will shape and build the security building blocks that engineering teams build on top of to protect customer accounts and identity data.

This position is based at our headquarters in San Francisco. We offer relocation assistance for candidates located outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you'll do at Persona

  • Own the security foundations that safeguard sensitive identity data at scale and protect the trust our customers place in Persona

  • Design and build IAM systems that Persona's enterprise customers use to manage PII across global teams and departments

  • Partner with engineering teams across Persona to prevent or eliminate complex multi-product vulnerabilities

What you'll bring to Persona

  • Experience - 5+ years of security software engineering experience at a fast-moving technology company, including experience with building performant, highly interactive web applications.

  • Passion for security - You should be excited about keeping your skills and knowledge sharp, and sharing that with your peers and the rest of the company.

  • Product-thinker - You build products in a way that maximizes product value while minimizing complexity. You understand and can resolve tensions between product requirements and engineering design for large-scale projects.

  • Innovative mindset - You go beyond implementing what is asked and make product suggestions and features that help push our product forward. You are naturally curious and embrace change.

  • Proactive thinking - You learn from your mistakes quickly and know how to unblock yourself when needed. We’re looking for someone who can tell us how to solve our problems, instead of waiting to be told how to solve problems.

  • Collaborative spirit - You work well across teams and are comfortable learning new areas

Full-time Employee Benefits and Perks

For full-time employees (excluding internship and contractor opportunities), Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipend, wellness benefits, among others. While we believe competitive compensation and benefits are a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you consider why our core values and culture are right for you.
