Role Description
Form Energy is hiring a Senior Control Panel Designer to impact development and validation of our groundbreaking battery technology. As part of our BMS Hardware & Electrical System team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of industrial control panel design — from component selection and schematic development through vendor coordination and high-voltage validation. You will work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver panels that meet the highest safety and compliance standards.This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:
Design the control panel panels in compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL 508A standards
Develop complete control panel schematic, layout and BOM using EPLAN
Select appropriate control panel components including connectors, wire harnesses, branch circuit protection devices (breakers, fuses), and power conversion devices (drives, transformers, rectifiers)
Select components rated for 600V AC and 2000V DC high-voltage applications
Work directly with third-party panel vendors to translate design intent into built assemblies. Execute and oversee high-voltage testing procedures including hipot, insulation resistance, and functional validation
Collaborate with mechanical engineers on panel enclosure selection, thermal management, and physical integration
Support DFMEA activities for panel-level failure mode identification and risk mitigation
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
Proficiency in panel design SW EPLAN or equivalent
Demonstrated experience designing panels to NEC and UL 508A requirements
Hands-on experience in testing with high-voltage testing procedures and associated safety protocols
Strong working knowledge of branch protection coordination, wire sizing, and power conversion device integration
Experience managing third-party panel fabrication vendors through design, build, and acceptance phases
Familiarity with the SW including PLM (e.g. Arena or Team Center), product development SW (e.g. JIRA) and requirement management tools (e.g. JAMA)
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
