Job Summary
Seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer specializing in Python to design and build scalable, event-driven platforms that automate complex document workflows. The role involves developing and optimizing distributed microservices on AWS, enhancing system performance, and ensuring high reliability. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally, contribute to architectural decisions, enforce best coding practices, and mentor junior team members while supporting CI/CD, testing, and operational excellence within a modern cloud environment.
Responsibilities
Design and architect scalable, reliable, and observable distributed systems, defining APIs and event-driven contracts aligned with modern platform standards.
Develop and maintain Python-based microservices, including REST APIs, serverless functions, and workflow orchestrations within a cloud-native environment.
Enhance and refactor existing systems, improving performance, error handling, and supporting legacy-to-modern architecture migrations.
Ensure code quality through comprehensive testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), CI/CD practices, and adherence to best development standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, SRE, and frontend, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical documentation and code review
Qualifications and Job Requirements
10+ years of hands-on experience in Python development, with deep expertise in modern Python features and best practices.
Strong experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
Proficiency in AWS services, including Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, EventBridge, and IAM.
Expertise in FastAPI or similar asynchronous frameworks, along with strong data validation using Pydantic.
Solid experience implementing testing strategies (pytest) and working within CI/CD pipelines.
Advanced knowledge of API design (REST/OpenAPI), data modeling (DynamoDB), and Infrastructure as Code (preferably AWS CDK).
Strong Git proficiency and experience implementing observability practices such as structured logging and distributed tracing.
Excellent problem-solving skills, high ownership mindset, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative working style.
Experience in OCR/document processing, mortgage/financial services, and integrating ML/LLM (LangChain, Bedrock)
