About the team and role
The Risk Operations team at Scribd plays a critical role in protecting the business by managing payments and fraud risk, to reduce costs while also driving customer and business value. As Risk Operations Analyst II, Payments & Fraud, you will be key to helping us build a world-class, cross-functional payments team. You’ll go beyond reactive risk mitigation - to proactive risk management that also improves business outcomes. This role will support the Risk Ops Team in creating clarity, working cross-functionally with other teams, and embed risk thinking into how Scribd builds and scales.
What you’ll do:
You will partner with the Risk Ops Manager on process and strategy. This team owns payments risk and fraud operations across the following key areas, while partnering closely with Payments, Product, Analytics, and Finance teams:
Chargeback Strategy & Prevention
Monitor and reduce chargeback rates across processors
Monitor dispute representment and metrics like win rate
Fraud Detection & Rule Optimization
Monitor the performance of our fraud blocking tools (3rd party and in-house)
Support fraud related investigations (including card testing attacks and content fraud)
Analyze new fraud trends and key risk metrics
Collaborate with team and vendors to manage and develop new fraud rules
Payments Optimization Support
Partner with Payments, Analytics, and Finance to monitor and improve payment processor performance
Support onboarding and optimization of new payment tools and vendors
Help future-proof the payments platform against fraud, risk, and cost inefficiencies
What you’ll bring:
3 or more years experience in Fraud Prevention, Merchant Risk or related fields
Core data processing skills, able to work with large data sets to generate accurate reporting and analysis, including validating and testing
Knowledge of global payments ecosystems, with experience navigating fraud or chargebacks
Interest in developing skills in fraud analysis, SQL, Python, Machine Learning, payment optimization and managing merchant accounts in payment platforms
Strong analytical skills, with ability to define key metrics, track trends, and drive data-backed decisions
Skilled cross-functional operator who can partner with and connect dots across Product, Analytics, Finance, Engineering, Legal, and Operations
Ideally, you have:
Intermediate to advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
1-2 Years Experience with SQL or Python

At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $76,500 [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California] to $118,000 [maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California].
In the United States, outside of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $63,000 [minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California] to $114,000 [maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California].
In Canada, the reasonably expected salary range is between $80,000 CAD[minimum salary in our lowest geographic market] to $106,000 CAD[maximum salary in our highest geographic market].
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership, and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
