Role Description
Reporting to the Clinic Director of the McGill Psychological Assessment & Counselling Clinic, the incumbent provides direct mental health support to clients of the Clinic, contributing to the mission of fostering mental health awareness, prevention, early intervention, and accessible care.
Delivers evidence-informed assessment, counselling, and psychotherapy tailored to diverse client needs.
Conducts psychological/emotional assessments and collaboratively creates intervention/wellness plans with Clinic clients.
Completes reports and consultation paperwork consistent with OPQ/CPA standards.
Provides follow-up appointments and makes referrals within McGill and the larger community, as appropriate.
Provides individual therapy or counselling within a collaborative care framework for clients experiencing mild-moderate psychological distress.
Works from a short-term, collaborative, evidence-informed model emphasizing client agency and resilience.
Participates in planning and conducting workshops and outreach activities in areas appropriate to the Clinic s mandate.
Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to ensure coordinated programming and referral pathways.
Provides expertise to the Clinic Director in developing and implementing a research protocol for obtaining feedback from clients about their satisfaction with Clinic intervention services.
Participates with the Clinic Director and Director of Clinical Training in ensuring that field placements and internship sites of students are consistent with OPQ/CPA standards.
Responsible for ensuring that practice is up to date and informed by current research.
Participates in training opportunities and incorporates current Clinic practices into daily routine.
Works on special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field is preferred.
Must hold registration with the Ordre des psychologues du Qubec (OPQ).
Experience providing evidence-informed individual counselling to children, adolescents, and adults.
Skilled in conducting psychological assessments and developing intervention and/or collaborative wellness plans.
Ability to respond to clients experiencing difficulty or heightened emotionality, including completing suicide or violence risk assessments.
Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective collaboration with colleagues and external partners.
Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse student populations.
Commitment to evidence-based practice and staying current with professional standards and research.
Strong organizational, documentation, and administrative skills.
Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree.
5 Years Related Experience with Bachelor s Degree / Master's Degree 2 Years Related Experience with Master s Degree.
