About the job
We are looking for a dynamic Principal Technical Recruiter who will act as a critical partner supporting the growth and evolution of R&D at Twilio. You will lead end-to-end searches across the function with a focus on Engineering and Product roles. You will act as a strategic advisor to the business, providing innovative, out-of-the-box, and data-driven approaches to hiring the best possible technical talent.
This role demands both a strategic mindset and an operational excellence approach, a recruiter who embraces leading by example, while owning multiple demanding searches and stakeholder relationships. Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for roles across R&D, from kickoff to offer across multiple functions and levels.
- Influence R&D hiring strategy at scale.
- Act as a bar-raiser and mentor within the recruiting function, contributing to elevated hiring standards and best practices.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, aligning talent strategy with business needs.
- Conduct structured, competency-based interviews to ensure objective, values-aligned hiring.
- Own and continuously optimize recruitment workflows, tools, and partnerships to drive efficiency and impact across the hiring lifecycle.
- Leverage recruitment metrics and market insights to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience while maintaining impeccable process discipline and operational excellence.
- Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with HRBPs, Total Rewards, and FP&A to align recruiting with broader organizational talent strategy.
- Navigate and influence in a complex, fast-moving environment, bringing clarity and order to ambiguity.
Required
- 10+ years of experience in a recruiting role, 7+ within a global tech environment.
- Proven success hiring for roles such as software engineers, data scientists, TPMs, and ML engineers.
- Adept at managing multiple open roles across levels, complexity and varying levels of priority and urgency.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and set expectations with leadership.
- Demonstrated track record of leading process improvements in technical hiring and raising talent standards.
- Strong expertise in data analytics, market intelligence, and using insights to influence hiring decisions.
- Expert knowledge of current trends and best practices in technical talent acquisition
- Proficient in ATS tools and data-driven recruitment methods.
- Enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and proactive.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, prioritizing effectively and driving to outcomes with limited oversight.
Location
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.
Travel
We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, you may be required to travel occasionally to participate in project or team in-person meetings.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $141,520 (Developing Minimum for Tier 3) - $176,900 (Mid for Tier 3).
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $149,840 (Developing Minimum for Tier 2) - $187,300 (Mid for Tier 2).
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $166,400 (Developing Minimum for Tier 1) - $208,000 (Mid for Tier 1).
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
