Patent Analyst
Full Job Description
At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
About the Role
Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our small but mighty IP Legal team to help enable and accelerate that growth. We are looking for a highly motivated in-house Patent Agent to help manage and grow our patent portfolio. This role will engage with engineering teams across Snowflake to harvest patentable inventions, and partner with outside counsel to ensure the timely preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
You will be capable of working across a variety of technical domains across the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, becoming the IP team’s subject matter expert in your fields of expertise.
What You'll Do
Patent Harvesting: Work with engineering teams and other members of the IP Legal team to harvest invention disclosures, including conducting invention mining workshops to uncover and capture new patentable ideas.
Due Diligence: Conduct prior art searches and patent analysis to determine patentability.
Drafting & Prosecution: Review patent application drafts from outside counsel and manage patent prosecution activities to ensure alignment with Snowflake’s patent strategy and budgetary requirements.
Portfolio Management & Strategy: Assist in managing the patent portfolio by supporting strategic decision-making and providing guidance on patent matters.
Technical Analysis: Analyze patent claims, patent file histories, and competitive intelligence documentation.
Operational Efficiency and AI Innovation: Regularly utilize and help develop internal AI tools and agents to streamline legal workflows.
What You’ll Need
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in invention harvesting, patent prosecution and drafting; more experienced candidates are welcome to apply.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Professional Qualifications: Registered Patent Agent (in India) and/or USPTO Registration is preferred.
Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of software and software development, in particular enterprise cloud technologies, data warehousing, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Communication: Proven ability to develop trusted relationships with inventors to enhance patent harvesting activities. Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms to non-subject matter experts within the IP team and other legal groups.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with a can-do attitude that no project is too big or too small.
Organization: Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to own and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
Flexibility: Ability to accommodate working hours based on the geographic location of clients and other legal team members.
AI Savvy: A strong interest in—and ideally experience with—developing and using emerging AI tools to improve legal operations.
Bonus: A good sense of humor!
Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
