Overview Atlassians can choose where they work whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.This is a remote position. With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we re able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand. Build and ship high impact Android features that let teams plan, track, and collaborate on the go. You ll work closely with product, design, and other engineering squads to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure Android app that also incorporates new AI driven capabilities. Responsibilities Design, develop, and ship Android features using Kotlin; write clean, test driven code. Optimize app performance (startup time, memory usage, network efficiency) and ensure high reliability through crash monitoring and robust error handling. Collaborate with Jira web, backend, and data teams to keep feature parity and consistent behavior across platforms. Implement and expand AI powered functionalities (e.g., smart issue suggestions, automated task classification, predictive analytics) within the Android app. Maintain high test coverage with unit, integration, and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso); conduct code reviews and mentor peers. Influence Android architecture. Engage with customers via support tickets, community forums, and beta programs to prioritize work. Translate UX/UI designs into intuitive, accessible Android interfaces; run usability tests and iterate. Keep technical documentation, design docs, and onboarding guides up to date; share knowledge through talks or Confluence pages. Qualifications 3+ years of native Android development with Kotlin; experience with iOS is a plus but not required. Strong grasp of Android architecture patterns, REST/GraphQL APIs, offline sync, and push notifications. Proficient with CI/CD for Android and automated testing pipelines. Skilled in unit and UI testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso). Excellent collaboration and communication in a distributed, cross functional environment.
