💻 Role
Your focus will be to build marketplace liquidity by growing high-quality seller supply, activating credible local communities
Help us build a seller community in Japan. Develop and manage relationships with industry-level leaders, from influencers, sellers, and other key partners.
Own the end-to-end planning and execution of our large marketing initiatives such as online academy, digital events or IRL events
Manage all social media channels & content
Work with GTM team to facilitate, attend, or set booth in offline events and conferences
Create Standout Moments & Campaigns: Use data storytelling, partnerships, and cultural insights to create moments that spark conversation and connection with key audiences.
👋 You
As our next Marketing Manager, you should have:
Experience: 5–10 years in consumer or category marketing, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You’ve seen excellent marketing first-hand and applied those lessons to drive measurable results
A strong track record of developing and executing go-to-market, brand, or consumer marketing initiatives from strategy through launch and iteration
Experience building and managing external relationships with partners such as influencers, creators, agencies, sellers, media, or other key industry stakeholders
Influencer marketing expertise: Proven track record building and managing a roster of influencers and creators as a performance channel, driving first-time sellers and buyers
Creative & performance content: Ability to develop and deliver content that performs in paid ads and fuels acquisition at scale
Event marketing: Experience planning and executing digital and in-person events that deliver measurable growth and community engagement
You speak fluent English and native Japanese, with a strong understanding of Japanese consumer behavior, culture, and market dynamics

Experience at a high-growth startup, marketplace, or creator-focused platform
An existing network of sellers, creators, and influencers within a Whatnot product category.
Proficiency in SQL
Passion for creator communities and/or categories that thrive on Whatnot (e.g., collectibles, fashion toys, TCG)
Experience buying and selling in online marketplaces.

16 weeks of fully paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work (in addition to any local statutory leave allowances. Company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence).
