This newly created role is a critical addition and unique opportunity to support the continued growth of Figma’s global People Relations (ER) function. As the Manager, People Relations, you’ll lead a distributed global team of four while serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership, driving both the day-to-day execution and long-term evolution of employee relations at the company. This role sits at the center of complex, high-impact work–navigating sensitive employee matters, shaping scalable and globally consistent practices, and transforming our People Relations function into a proactive, data-informed partner to the business. You’ll collaborate closely with People Partners, Employment Legal, our BEI team, and senior leaders to influence culture, strengthen our organizational health, and ensure Figma balances sustainable growth with maintaining a high bar for employee experience and integrity.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. Priority will be reserved for candidates in the Bay Area and/or willing to relocate to San Francisco.
What you’ll do at Figma:
- Design Figma’s employee relations strategy in concert with the Director, People, and directly own the global execution of said strategy, such that it’s aligned with our company values, risk posture, and company growth plans
- Directly manage and develop a global team of 4 ER professionals that enhances ER capabilities across regions while balancing jurisdictional and cultural nuance with company norms
- Provide oversight and guidance on complex and sensitive investigations globally, and personally lead or co-lead the highest-risk investigations in partnership with Employment Legal
- Guide or advise on complex accommodation, leave, and/or performance matters in partnership with your team, Benefits, BEI, and Employment Legal
- Act as a strategic thought partner to People Partners and senior leadership on employee risk, performance management, and broader organizational health, with a demonstrated ability to balance legal risk, employee experience, and business realities with recommendations and decision-making
- Elevate manager capabilities in navigating employee matters such as performance concerns, interpersonal conflict, and other employee issues
- Own ER data hygiene, reporting, and trend analysis, and use insights to inform leadership decisions, resourcing, and policy evolution
- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset with regard to ER processes in a way that centers efficiency, scalability, and consistency
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 8+ years of progressive employee relations experience, including people management, and with a proven track record of leading ER in a global context, with the ability to balance local nuance with global consistency
- Experience influencing senior leaders and operating as a trusted advisor within the business
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-risk investigations with minimal oversight, with strong preference for experience both inside and outside the US
- In-depth understanding of all aspects of US employment laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including ADA, ADEA and FMLA. Working knowledge of CA and NY employment laws and regulations. Knowledge of and experience with global employment law in countries in which we do business
- Exceptional judgment, decision-making, writing, and executive communication skills, with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- Experience in high-growth, pre-IPO/IPO, or M&A environments
- Comfort with Google Workspace, Figma products, and Workday
