The Role

Overjet is seeking an exceptional Lead DevOps Engineer to lead and scale our DevOps function during a critical phase of company-wide hypergrowth.

This role is for a hands-on infrastructure leader who enjoys operating as a player-coach—owning critical infrastructure initiatives while shaping the direction, standards, and best practices of the DevOps function. You’ll help lead DevOps toward scalable enablement, building automation, platforms, and self-service infrastructure that allow product, data, and ML engineering teams to move quickly without sacrificing reliability, security, or quality. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted technical advisor across the organization, architecting and building solutions that have a meaningful impact on how engineering operates at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the DevOps function, operating as a player-coach while setting technical direction, standards, and best practices

  • Build and maintain automation, platforms, and self-service infrastructure that enable engineering teams to move faster with confidence

  • Own and drive critical infrastructure initiatives across cloud, CI/CD, and deployment workflows

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP) supporting production workloads

  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption and standards using Terraform and related tooling

  • Establish and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and release reliability

  • Partner closely with product, data, ML, and security teams as a trusted technical advisor

  • Define and strengthen observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices

  • Lead incident response and post-incident reviews, focusing on long-term improvements

  • Mentor and develop DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale infrastructure, supporting production workloads, and configuration management (ie Terraform or Pulumi)

  • 3+ years of experience building automation tooling in a modern programming language (preferably Python or Go)

  • At least 1 year of people management experience (or equivalent team-lead experience)

  • Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL required)

  • Experience with Kubernetes, ideally GKE

  • At least 3 years of experience with modern CI/CD tools

  • Familiarity with cloud deployment workflows and cloud IaaS providers (GCP preferred)
