About the Role:

We are looking for a Head of/Director, Government Affairs, UK & EU to lead and advance our public policy and government affairs strategies across our European markets. In this role, you'll build trusted relationships with policymakers, regulators, and health system stakeholders; shape the external environment in which we operate; and ensure that our operational and clinical leaders have the political insight they need to make sound decisions. You'll work at the intersection of digital health, online prescribing, medicines policy, and patient access, and you'll do it during a period of meaningful change across European healthcare systems.

This is a rare opportunity to shape health policy across an entire continent at a moment when regulatory environments are genuinely in flux, and the decisions made now will define the landscape for years to come. As the first dedicated European Government Affairs leader, you won't just be responding to policy: you'll be building the function, the relationships, and the strategy from the ground up. This role will play a key part in supporting Hims & Hers' international growth strategy, helping navigate evolving policy environments as we expand our presence across Europe and build one of the world's leading consumer health platforms.

You Will:

  • Lead government affairs and public policy activities across the UK and the EU, including Germany, France, Ireland, and Spain, with responsibility for setting strategy in each market and cross-country

  • Support the company's international growth, market expansion, and integration efforts by assessing policy risks, stakeholder dynamics, and regulatory considerations across priority markets

  • Build and maintain relationships with health ministries, parliamentarians, EU institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council), patient organisations, and industry coalitions

  • Develop advocacy strategies on the issues most relevant to our business including: online prescribing and telemedicine, access to weight loss care, pharmacy policy, digital health and AI in healthcare, and patient-centred reforms to national health systems

  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments across our markets and translate them into clear business implications and strategic recommendations for leadership

  • Manage external consultants, agencies, and trade-association memberships to maximise reach and impact across multiple jurisdictions

  • Represent Hims & Hers in external forums, roundtables, consultations, and stakeholder meetings and serve as a credible spokesperson on policy issues when needed

  • Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Quality & Safety, Clinical, Marketing, Communications, and Operational leaders in Europe and around the world to align policy work with company priorities

  • Develop coordinated engagement strategies with health authorities, regulators, and policy stakeholders to support responsible innovation and patient access

  • Support market-entry and expansion planning for new European geographies, including stakeholder mapping, political risk assessment, and engagement strategy

  • Prepare policy analyses, briefing materials, and position papers to inform internal decisions and external engagement

  • Lead our policy response on sensitive or fast-moving issues, in close coordination with Communications and Legal

This Role May Be for You If:

  • You enjoy working across multiple countries and feel at home navigating the differences between health systems, political cultures, and regulatory traditions

  • You are comfortable influencing policy through direct stakeholder engagement and through coalitions, and you know when to use each

  • You value building durable, trust-based relationships — internally and externally — and play the long game

  • You are energised by translating complex legislation and political dynamics into clear, actionable strategic insights

  • You appreciate balancing strategic planning with operational execution, and don't mind getting into the details when it matters

  • You thrive when working with cross-functional and international teams in a fast-moving environment

  • You are attentive to detail when tracking policy developments, consultations, and commitments

  • You enjoy representing an organisation in high-level external discussions and bring sound judgment to public-facing moments

  • You're excited about consumer health and digital health — not just policy — and want to help shape a category, not just defend a company

You Have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a closely related field, with substantial time spent in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, digital health, technology, or life sciences industry

  • Demonstrated experience working with European healthcare systems and policy environments across more than one market, including engagement with EU institutions and at least one major national capital

  • Advanced degree in public policy, international relations, political science, law, economics, or a related field

  • Additional European language proficiency (German, French, or Spanish) strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance policy analysis, stakeholder intelligence, and operational effectiveness.

  • Familiarity with one or more of: digital health and telemedicine policy, online pharmacy regulation, GLP-1 and obesity policy debates, medicines access and reimbursement, EU AI Act and European Health Data Space, prescription drug advertising and promotion rules

  • Prior experience leading a region or operating as a sole practitioner before scaling a team

  • A track record of building stakeholder networks and managing external consultants, agencies, or trade-association relationships

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to brief executives, regulators, and political stakeholders with equal clarity

  • Sound political and commercial judgment, and the temperament to give honest internal counsel

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):

  • Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time roles

  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days

  • Offsite team retreats

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives and prioritizes ethics, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging. If you're excited about this role, we encourage you to apply—even if you're not sure if your background or experience is a perfect match.
