About the Role
This role sits within Float’s Frontend Platform group, focused on building high-quality user experiences across web and mobile. Today, the work is weighted toward frontend foundations and design systems, with ongoing responsibility for maintaining and evolving Float’s mobile application.
We are hiring across multiple levels for this role. Our interview process is designed to assess candidates objectively based on scope, judgment, and growth potential, and we will level accordingly. As Float continues to grow, there are significant opportunities to expand ownership, lead foundational initiatives, and take on broader technical responsibility over time.
This is not a mobile-only role. It’s designed for developers who are comfortable across frontend surfaces and who want to be force multipliers for product teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Build and maintain frontend systems using TypeScript and React.
Contribute to and evolve Float’s design system, improving parity between design and implementation.
Maintain and enhance the mobile application using React Native, ensuring reliability and release health.
Own mobile build, testing, submission, and post-release monitoring workflows.
Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver consistent, high-quality user experiences.
Enable other engineers through shared components, patterns, and documentation.
Raise frontend and mobile standards through clear ownership and technical judgment.
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
Design system adoption and parity improves meaningfully across the organization.
Mobile releases are predictable, reliable, and no longer a single point of failure.
Other engineers can confidently contribute to frontend and mobile work using shared foundations.
UI quality, consistency, and developer experience noticeably improve.
You are trusted as an owner of frontend and mobile foundations.
What We’re Looking For
Experience with modern frontend development (TypeScript, React).
Production exposure to React Native or native mobile platforms.
Familiarity with mobile release workflows, testing, and monitoring.
Interest in design systems and developer experience.
Comfort owning foundational work and leading through influence.
Bonus: experience building shared UI platforms or enabling teams at scale.
