Full Job Description
About Abacum
Abacum is the leading Business Planning solution for finance teams to drive performance. By automating reporting, enabling collaboration, and simplifying planning and forecasting, we help finance teams shift from number crunching to driving strategic decisions.
Founded in 2020 by two former CFOs, we’ve grown into a global team of 100+ people across 30+ nationalities. Headquartered in New York, we have offices in London and Barcelona. We’re trusted by industry leaders such as Dish Networks, Strava, BetterUp, Kajabi, JG Wentworth, Abridge, Cortex, and hundreds more.
We have raised over $100m, closing in June 2025 our $60M Series B, led by Scale Venture Partners, with the strong participation of Cathay Innovation, Y Combinator, Atomico, Creandum, and angel operators from Adyen, Zapier, and Twitch.
Our mission is ambitious and we can’t do it alone - join Abacum as we build the future of Business Planning!
The Role: Be the Guide, Not the Mechanic
We are looking for a Finance Deployment Strategist to guide enterprise customers through complex implementations and ensure they achieve measurable outcomes with Abacum. In this role, you will work directly with Finance Leaders and Practitioner teams to deploy our platform, automate their business planning processes, and help deliver our product vision
Our philosophy here aims to find practitioners, not traditional “transformation consultants” – who have the EQ to understand how Finance thinks, acts and communicates.
You will leverage your domain expertise to challenge the status quo, ensuring our tool digitizes optimized workflows rather than bad processes. You will help shape our deployment methodology, lead customer implementations, and serve as the bridge between customer needs and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Externally you will:
Lead Deployments: Execute our standard implementation package where you train the client’s team simultaneously as you build out their Abacum instance, ensuring they are autonomous by go-live.
Manage Stakeholders: Manage communication with client Project Managers and "Co-builders," leading weekly training sessions and progress check-ins.
Architect Financial Logic: Design and build best-in-class financial models including Revenue Forecasting, Headcount Planning, Expense Forecasting, and 3-Statement models (Balance Sheet/Cash Flow).
Data Integration: Oversee the integration of client data systems (ERP, HRIS, CRM, Data Warehouses) into the Abacum platform, establishing unified charts of accounts and mapping dimensions.
Solve Complex Finance Pains: Address specific client challenges such as manual journal entry manipulations, cost allocation issues across legal entities, and data silos.
Internally you will:
Mentor Junior Team Members: Assist in the enablement and coaching of junior resources to help them ramp faster and spot implementation issues early.
Contribute to Building our Machine: Ideate on proposals and provide best practices to maximize scalability and efficiency in our processes
Who You Are
A Practitioner: You have significant experience (5+ years recommended) in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Strategic Consulting. You have "sat in the seat" of our clients and understand what a successful finance function looks like – especially one that understands what “good” looks like in terms of FP&A tool setup.
A Model Builder: You possess the ability to dig deep into data and think from first principles. You are an expert in Excel financial modeling and can translate complex logic into scalable systems.
A Strategic Communicator: You can communicate complexity in a simple way to multiple stakeholders and feel comfortable in challenging clients’ processes to improve their workflows.
Tech-Forward: You are comfortable working with data structures and have an aptitude for learning new tools. Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana) and CRM/ERPs (Salesforce, NetSuite) is a plus.
Ownership Mindset: You are a self-starter who can respond to problems independently and manage project timelines/resources effectively.
Why Join Us?
Impact: Move beyond technical setup to delivering operational excellence. Help clients shift from "installation" to "value realization".
Growth: Join a rapidly scaling company with a global footprint and ambitious mission.
Culture: Work with a team of former industry veterans who value high performance and collaboration.
To Apply: Please submit your resume highlighting your specific experience in FP&A and financial modeling.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation including equity package
- Competitive vacation policy
- Access to Meditopia
- Hybrid working model and flexible working hours
- Personal development including language courses
Our Values
Customer Obsession: We share the understanding that Abacum's sole purpose is to create value for customers and relentlessly deploy all creativity and energy to that end.
Audacious Ambition: We dream big and embrace discomfort. We assume risks, make on-time mistakes and learn how to methodically accomplish our goals.
Good People: We are self-reflective and praise diversity of thought. We don't justify the end with the means and know where to draw the line. We have fun every day.
Tough Love: We truly care for everyone in the team and embrace honest feedback and radical candor as ways to genuinely help each other.
