We re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team.As an Engineering Manager at Civica, you will be a hands-on player-coach . Your primary responsibility will be to manage a team of software engineers, taking ownership of both the team s happiness and their delivery efforts. You ll also be hands on as an individual contributor, and work with your team to ensure the best technical outcomes. If you enjoy both leadership and technical elements of software engineering, this role would be a great fit./What you will be doing:Hire, build and manage a team of successful & happy software engineersEnabling your team for success, ensuring delivery of high-quality products to our customersEmbody good engineering culture, and drive great behaviours in your teamDesign, develop, deploy and maintain software productsCollaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to identify requirements and develop technical solutionsParticipate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and improving the overall quality of our engineering outputTroubleshoot complex issues using log analysis, profiling tools, and collaborative debugging techniquesContribute to documentation and decisions on team processes and toolsImplement continuous integration & continuous deployment pipelines for automated testing, build, and deployment processesRequirementsYou will be an experienced Engineering Manager who possess the following skills:Experience in recruiting, coaching and mentoring software engineersDeep knowledge of modern software development practices such as agile development, continuous delivery, automated testing, security, and observabilityExpertise implementing engineering metrics to drive quality and performanceComfortable with ambiguity, and able to create clarity for your teamProficient in writing high-quality, readable, secure, and maintainable codeStrong understanding of computer science concepts, data structures, and algorithmsStrong knowledge of testing principles and practices; experience writing and automating testsExperience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)Building and shipping products using NodeJS and ReactUnderstands separation of concerns with servicesKnowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) and monitoring toolsUnderstanding of security best practices and secure coding principlesAwareness of Developer Experience principles and practicesExperience modernising legacy softwareWorked in an environment where engineers own production servicesWorked with GoLangWe Want You to Bring Your Whole Self to WorkThere is no such thing as the perfect candidate, so if you think you have what it takes but don't necessarily meet every single point on the list above, please still get in touch.
