The Opportunity

The Role
The Director of Clinician Engagement will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase user identification, deepen engagement, and drive sustainable growth across MDCalc's web and mobile platforms. This role will report to the Chief Medical Officer, and work cross-functionally with product, engineering, content, and commercial teams to ensure marketing initiatives align with MDCalc's clinical mission and business objectives.
The responsibilities of this individual include the following, but are not limited to:
User Identification & Growth Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to grow the identified user base across platforms, developing and deploying personalized, relevant experiences to clinicians.
Engagement & Retention: Design initiatives that deepen user engagement, increase session frequency, and drive consistent platform usage. Manage editorial calendar, strategize mechanisms for thought leadership, including speaking events, conference planning, and press engagement.
Digital Marketing Execution: Own digital marketing channels including email, social media, SEO/SEM, app store optimization, paid acquisition, and alignment across platforms. Develop campaigns that drive awareness, trial, and retention among healthcare professionals. Source and manage vendors.
Analytics & Insights: Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure the effectiveness of growth and engagement initiatives. Incorporate user feedback from survey data and focus groups as needed. Use data to inform strategy, identify opportunities, and iterate on tactics.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product and engineering to align on user experience improvements, feature adoption, and platform capabilities that support engagement goals. Collaborate with content and commercial teams to ensure cohesive messaging and priorities.
AI & Emerging Tools: Evaluate and apply AI-based approaches to audience segmentation, personalization, content discovery, and marketing operations. Partner with product and data teams on practical AI applications that support identification and engagement goals.
Testing & Optimization: Build a culture of experimentation, including designing A/B tests, pilots, and trials to validate strategies before scaling.
Your Background
5+ years of experience in digital marketing, growth, or user engagement in healthcare, health tech, or a regulated industry
Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that drive user acquisition, identification, and retention
Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform decisions and measure impact
Experience with marketing automation, CRM platforms, and analytics tools
Familiarity with mobile app marketing, including app store optimization and push notification strategy
Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to operate independently and move quickly in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
Understanding of or genuine interest in healthcare, clinical workflows, and the needs of medical professionals
Strong organizational abilities with a bias toward action and measurable outcomes
Preference for candidates based in or able to travel to NYC
