We’re hiring a Director of Infrastructure Security to lead how 1Password secures its cloud-native platform. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on building strong, scalable security across infrastructure, identity, and emerging AI systems.

We’re looking for a leader who can set the direction for infrastructure security and follow through on it. You’ll bring the technical depth to understand what strong security looks like, the judgment to prioritize the right work, and the influence to drive alignment and investment across the company.

In this role, you’ll own security across cloud infrastructure, identity and access (including privileged access), network and container environments, and AI-driven systems. You’ll lead and develop a team of engineers, partner closely with Security Operations and engineering leaders, and help raise the bar on how we design and build secure systems.

You’ll also play a key role in shaping how we secure AI and automated systems, including how they access resources, how policies are enforced, and how risk is managed as these technologies evolve.

Your work will help ensure our platform scales securely as the business grows, without slowing down product and engineering teams.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical depth, leadership experience, and the ability to build and scale security programs.

• Security leadership: 10+ years in security engineering, with at least 5 years leading teams. You’ve owned meaningful programs and helped teams grow and improve.

• Cloud and infrastructure security experience: Strong understanding of AWS and modern cloud environments, including Kubernetes and infrastructure-level security controls.

• Identity and access expertise: Experience building or improving privileged access programs, including how both people and systems get access to what they need.

• Network and platform security: Experience working on things like network segmentation, WAF, and zero-trust approaches at scale.

• Awareness of new areas like AI security: You understand how security is changing with AI and automated systems, and you’re comfortable working in that space as it evolves.

• Strong technical judgment: You can review your team’s work, spot gaps, and help raise the quality of what’s being built.

• People leadership and collaboration: You’ve built strong teams, supported people’s growth
  

What you can expect:

• Set and drive the strategy for Infrastructure Security across cloud, identity, and AI systems

• Define clear goals and metrics so we can track progress and make better decisions

• Improve and scale key areas like cloud security, access management, and container security

• Build and support a strong team, helping engineers grow and do their best work

• Work closely with engineering teams to make security part of how systems are built from the start

• Help define how we secure AI and automated systems, including how they access resources, how policies are enforced, and how risk is managed

• Make sure security keeps up with company growth without slowing teams down

• Partner across Security Operations to keep our work aligned and effective

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $246,000 USD and $369,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $228,000 CAD and $342,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
