Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Director, Data Engineering is a critical leader that owns the cloud data platform for monetized data products and the enterprise data within Meridianlink. This leader will provide strategic direction and technical leadership to deliver value-added solutions for our customers and internal stakeholders. The Director will manage the Data Engineering team for data products and the Enterprise Data Engineering team. They will partner with product directors and senior leaders across the organization to ensure delivery in support of product roadmaps and corporate initiatives.

Expected Duties:

  • Manage teams of data engineering professionals to deploy end-to-end data solutions via cloud data platform.

  • Coordinate with product team leadership to define and deliver the data products roadmap for MeridianLink customers

  • Deliver and support data products for use by MeridianLink customers and partners

  • Align with senior leadership to develop a data roadmap to identify and prioritize data initiatives for enterprise data

  • Coordinate with the Data Governance team to ensure implementation of standardized naming conventions, aligned metric definitions, and high-quality data solutions

  • Manage the timely and accurate ingestion of all relevant data into the cloud data platform (Azure Databricks)

  • Ensure optimized data pipelines from raw to presentation-ready data

  • Collaborate with Chief Information Security officer to define, refine, implement, and monitor data policies to ensure safety and regulatory compliance

  • Define, implement, and uphold best practice data engineering processes and procedures.

  • Maintain an inventory of best practice principles, templates, and standards to be consistently applied across all data engineering teams

  • Coordinate with technical and IT leaders to ensure technical compatibility and interoperability between the cloud data platform and product or enterprise applications

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are seeking an experienced data leader with expertise in deploying monetized data products. This leader should have a strong data engineering background and have experience with modern data architecture including Data Lakes, Data Marts, Data Pipelines, and Data Ingestion.

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience

  • 4+ years' experience leading data engineering teams

  • Very strong communication skills

  • Deep expertise in modern data architecture concepts, Data Lakes, Data Marts, Data Pipelines, Medallion architecture, etc.

  • Successful deployment and management of cloud data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake

  • Experience with data ingestion tools such as Informatica and Dell Boomi

  • Knowledge of real-time data streaming such as Kafka, Flink, etc.

  • Experience with cloud data sharing / zero copy technology

  • Strong Data Engineering skills, especially SQL and Python

  • Solid understanding of devops/dataops for professional data deployment

  • Experience managing metadata, data catalogs, and data observability frameworks

  • Proficiency with office productivity tools such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
