Full Job Description
Dandy is transforming the massive and antiquated dental industry—an industry worth over $200B. Backed by some of the world’s leading venture capital firms, we’re on an ambitious mission to simplify and modernize every function of the dental practice through technology. As we expand our reach globally, Dandy is building the operating system for dental offices around the world—empowering clinicians and their teams with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practices, their people, and their patients.
About the role
Dandy’s current physical footprint—the Vision scanner and the Dandy Cart—is the cornerstone of our business success and provides dental offices with a seamless, end-to-end digital experience. We are hiring a hardware leader with a deep technical expertise and product sense to architect the physical experience that defines our brand. You will have a relentless focus on the end-user experience. You are technically well-versed in electrical and mechanical engineering and are as comfortable walking the manufacturing floor and speaking with vendors as you are presenting a long-term product roadmap. You have a proven track record of taking complex electrical products from design through to a successful market launch.
What You'll Do
Define the Hardware Standard: Take full end-to-end ownership of the design, launch, and evolution of Dandy’s physical products. You will turn our current hardware into an industry-leading, seamless digital experience.
Unlock New Markets: Identify and capture whitespace opportunities. You will lead the charge on developing next-generation products.
Architect the Supply Chain: Lead critical "build vs. buy" strategies. You will move Dandy away from off-the-shelf components toward high-quality, custom hardware, ensuring our products are proprietary, defensible, and superior in the market.
Drive Technical Excellence: Be the final word on quality and iteration. You will dive deep into the weeds to resolve complex hardware bottlenecks—from battery thermal management to mechanical design flaws—ensuring 100% reliability for our doctors.
What You’ll Need
A Track Record of Success: You must have successfully built and launched at least one complex, consumer-facing or B2B electrical hardware product at scale.
Full-Stack Technical Breadth: Deep, hands-on understanding of the hardware lifecycle, including electrical engineering, mechanical design, and firmware integration.
Operational Command: Extensive experience managing vendors and contract manufacturers to bring high-fidelity products to market.
Entrepreneurial Grit: A "drive and hustle" mentality. You are excited to roll up your sleeves to solve edge-case technical failures while simultaneously leading high-level strategy.
Obsessive User Focus: A background in Hardware Product Management or Hardware Engineering with a fanatical devotion to UX and workflow optimization.
This role will be hybrid based in New York, Boston or San Francisco.
