About The Role
Controls Commissioning Engineer will take the lead in commissioning, startup, and turnover of SCADA/BMS/EPMS systems for industrial applications. Expectation is this individual will oversee commissioning execution, functional testing, and system validation across multiple locations throughout the US and Europe. This senior-level role requires deep expertise in control systems integration, point-to-point verification, sequence of operations validation, and system architecture review. The successful candidate will manage complex commissioning programs, provide technical guidance, and ensure that installed systems meet both design intent and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Execute all commissioning phases (L1-L5) for control systems including BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA platforms (Ignition experience preferred).
Serve as Owner's Representative coordinating with general contractors, designers, and vendors on-site.
Develop, review, and execute test scripts (FPTs, ISTs) in collaboration with commissioning agents to verify systems meet design intent.
Maintain commissioning documentation including issue tracking, test results, punch lists, and final reports.
Lead controls system handover to operations, ensuring all systems are functional, documented, and ready for service.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years in controls commissioning, data center MEP systems, or industrial automation (experience with UPS monitoring, chilled water, and HVAC systems required).
In-depth knowledge of control system architectures, PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred), SCADA, BMS, and EPMS platforms.
Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, including ability to read, write, troubleshoot, and debug control logic.
Experience with industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, BACnet, Modbus) and hardware/software integration.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related technical field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ASHRAE or BCxA commissioning guidelines and documentation standards.
Hands-on experience with pre-functional testing, electrical checks, and mechanical system adjustments.
Troubleshooting expertise—diagnosing and resolving controls issues during startup and commissioning.
ISA CCST certification or equivalent controls/instrumentation credentials.
Prior experience commissioning hyperscale or colocation data centers.

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.
