About the team

Stripe is looking for an outstanding transactional lawyer to join our commercial legal team supporting our fast-growing business in APAC.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

• Support the APAC Sales team, leading negotiations for complex and strategic agreements
• Advise on a wide range of commercial and legal issues, including launch of new products to Stripe users and support international expansions
• Be an integral part of the build out of the commercial legal infrastructure so that we can scale and operate efficiently at pace with our exponential growth—this work includes drafting and maintaining Stripe agreements and playbooks, leading and contributing to projects to improve internal processes, leveraging AI tooling to optimize how we work and collaborate with our clients, partners, and users
• Partner with teams across Stripe globally, including sales, operations, product, tax, risk groups, and others
• Help the entire team drive scaled support and efficiency, working collaboratively in a global team to maximize the overall impact of the Commercial Legal team
• Develop and deliver training and other resources to help the Sales team sell our products • Be a point of escalation for outside counsel

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• Intellectually curious and a creative problem solver—our products and our industry are complex and ever evolving, and you relish learning new products and finding creative solutions to challenging problems
• A self-starter with a bias for action—you are proactive and have a strong sense of ownership
• A clear and concise communicator (in written and verbal forms), who can distill the key risks and explain complex, nuanced issues in plain and simple terms
• A natural collaborator, able to guide cross-functional teams and drive to a win-win solution
• Familiar with the range of legal issues and commercial risks that arise in connection with hosted data and technology services
• A team player who is willing to do what it takes to contribute to the collective success • Qualified in at least one Asia-Pacific region with a law degree or equivalent
• 7+ years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group in a law firm

Preferred qualifications

• High professional fluency in Mandarin and English, and experience supporting the Greater China region • Experience working in payment or fintech industries and knowledge of associated regulatory issues
• In-house experience advising high-growth companies
• Working knowledge of how to use LLM tools • Experience in improving legal processes with AI technology
• A working knowledge of data protection laws
